I then asked the magical question, does SNK have any plans for the Playstation 3. Ben did not exactly say no. What he did say was that they had no plans for the PS3 that he could “talk about at this point.” So take that as you will.

I went on to ask if SNK had any plans for new franchises. Not that their current ones were not great, but I do think it is about time to see at least one or two new SNK franchises hit the street. This is something that Ben said the USA division of SNK wrestles with the Japanese SNK over. He says that him and the rest of the USA division does press the Japanese head office to at the very least release some of the older games in updated form, if not a totally new IP. Ben said he would love to do some sort of Baseball Stars anthology, and things of that nature, but as of now there are no concrete plans. He did go on to say that more than likely, down the road, we will begin to see other things besides Metal Slugs and KOF.

Ben spoke a bit about Metal Slug on the GBA, which is the original game that started it all. A while back, Metal Slug Advanced was released, which was an all-new MS game for the GBA. That did very well apparently, so now SNK has decided to try its luck again with the original Metal Slug. The game is a direct port of the Arcade Title, and I did play a very early build of the game, but there were no enemies or hostages to rescue.

One of the other games that SNK is pushing now is the SNK Vs. Capcom Card Fighters DS. This game was not playable, but he did speak a bit about it. The game will be the first DS title for SNK, and it is inspired by the Card Fighters Clash game that was such a cult hit on the Neo Geo Pocket. This game is not a port of the NGP title, it is a brand new game. Good news for Card Fighter fans. New graphics, new gameplay, and it will have wireless head to head of course.

That was about it for SNK at E3. Some great info on the upcoming roster of SNK games, and even some inside info on some of the potential SNK titles.
