Grasshopper Manufacture, the Japanese developer responsible for Killer 7 and No More Heroes, has announced that they have licensed the Unreal 3 Engine for use in an upcoming PS3/Xbox360 title. The new game, published by EA, is being headed up by Suda 51. After the expiration and thorough review of the EA takeover bid, Take Two has announced that they are going to stay independent. This means anyone who wants them, say like EA, will have to go the hostile takeover route. Whether or not this will happen is anyone's guess. Koei and Tecmo are giving more details on their planned merger, revealing their new company will be debuting in Spring 2009. After rejecting the Square offer, Tecmo entered into talks with Koei for a merger. Last month it become official."In the ¥3 trillion ($28 billion) global games market, we have revenue of ¥40 billion ($377m), which begs the question of whether we can survive. We plan to make the most of this merger and move on to the next step, which may include acquisitions."

EA has struck another deal with a bigtime movie director. The previous attempt with Stephen Spielberg, Boom Blox for the Wii, worked out fairly well, and he is said to be working on a WWII game next. Now, the director of the hit movie 300, Zack Snyder, has agreed to develop three original games for the publishing giant. Snyder will automatically receive the movie rights to his games, as well. More game-based movies, just what we need.

As you may or may not have heard, there are rumors flying around the net that internet giant Google is considering getting into the gaming industry by acquiring Valve. Well, when contacted, Google refused to comment on the rumors at this point, which may mean it is at least being talked about. Rumor mill for now, stay tuned.

Microsoft has fired the employee who openly spoke with Venture Beat about the Xbox360's hardware launch issues. In case you missed the article, the employee, Robert Delaware, who worked as a tester for MS from 2005 to 2007, spoke about the many hardware issues the console had, as well as how XBox Live updates turned working consoles into non-working bricks. Nomatter how people may feel about his candid remarks, it is, in reality, a breach of his contract and NDA, so legally, he may be in trouble. It will be interesting to see how far MS pursues this.

EA has officially dropped its bid for Take Two as of yesterday. EA said that it was crucial Take Two was integrated by the Holiday season, that that is not going to happen as of now. Stay tuned.

NC Soft has indeed formed a new studio group called NC West. This new group will be the head of all of NC Soft's operations outside of Korea. On another note, there are rumors about the web that Tabula Rasa is nearing its last months, due to poor subscribership. More info when we have it.
