Blizzard today revealed at BlizzCon that StarCfraft II will now consist of a trilogy of games. The three games will each concentrate on one of the StarCraft Universe's factions. The first game will be titled "Terrans: Wings of Liberty." The Zerg game will be "Zerg: Heart if the Swarm," and the last game in the trilogy will be the Protoss "Legacy of the Void" title.

"[The second and third games] will be like expansion packs, but we really want them to feel like standalone products," said Blizzard's Rob Pardo.

each campaign will be very different and contain RPG elements. A bold experiment from Blizzard, but right now, everything they touch turns to gold, so we will be eagerly waiting to see what happens. (Thanks, KaKarotto)

Eurogamer TV has a brand new video from Blizzcon that shows off the Wizard class from Diablo III. If you cannot get enough Diablo media, head on over and check it out. It looks great, of course, but it just makes us want the game that much sooner.

Chalk another MMO up to the fact that the market is just plain overloaded. Today, Codemasters announced that they will be shutting down operations for RF Online. This was Codies first MMO game, and they have been trying to shore it up for the last year or so. The game will shut down in Europe and North America on November 10, 2008, with the last official day of play being November 9. The License expires on the 10th, and they were unable to reach an agreement with Korean developers, and will not be renewing the contract. Oh well, another casualty of an overloaded MMO market.

"Our licence for RF Online is due to expire shortly and unfortunately, despite several weeks of negotiations with CCR, the Korean developers of the title, we have not been able to reach an agreement to renew the contract," said the company in a statement.

It seems that Valve will start offering user created mods for Half-Life 2 over the Steam download platform this week. The five mods include Age of Chivalry, D.I.P.R.I.P., Insurgency, Synergy, and Zombie Panic. Any gamers who have already purchased a game over Steam that uses the Source Engine will be able to download and play any of the mods, totally free.

"We're excited to see mod developers get wider recognition for the hard work they have done, and we hope to support more mod teams in the future," says an official statement on the Steam website.

We knew it would do well, but this is certainly a bit of a surprise. EA's new MMO, Warhammer Online, has had over 500k players register in just under a week. This apparently makes the game the fastest-selling new MMO of all time. Of course, to breach the hold that the juggernaut Warcraft has on the MMO community, it has a long way to go, but this is a great start. Then again, Age of Conan started out strong too. EA is apparently getting fedup with all the talk about the horrible DRM and digital protection measures that are plaguing Spore. So much so, that over at the official forums, users are now risking their Spore accounts being banned if they speak about the protection methods in their posts. The draconian protection apparently requires users to buy a copy of the game for every player in the house, even though the game clearly states otherwise. Way to win over your gamers, EA.
