Blu-Ray Players Will Debut On May 23 > |

According to Variety, the first Blu-Ray players and movies will be available on May 23. This, as you know, is two months after the planned debut of HD-DVD on March 28. Could this spell trouble for the format, and what about the Playstation 3? Variety reports that the PS3 was supposed to be the first player with the Blu-Ray disk drive but the decision has now been made to release stand alone disk players before the PS3's launch. Of course, the Sony party line is still "this Spring." As we all know Spring will come to a close about a month after E3.
