Square Responds To FFVII Playstation 3 Remake Rumor >
2006/06/16 10:51:58: Posted by DM
Square has responded to the resurgance of the "Final Fantasy VII remake on Playstation 3" rumors that have cropped up on the net yet again. Notice we said "responded" and not "denied." This is because, in classic Square form, they have responded without really saying anything one way or the other.

"We have confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII is in development, but have NOT confirmed a FF7 remake at any time. The remake has been a popular subject for rumors, but that's all they are. Obviously the Best Buy listing was made in error"

Yes, no? You decide.

I don't think they would...why would they have to? Not like they are in need of the $$$.

But we'll find out for sure at TGS.

Definetly not I think tgs is the last place we'll hear about the ff7 remake I think they are saving that quite possibly for the 2007 TGS or 2008 E3. I'll eat my hat if Square mentions this game in 2006.

I think this tgs they'll finally come out the closet about their plans for the 360.

Yeah, Square should consentrate on FFXIII-games at the moment (and they are). I'm sure they will talk about this after at least the "real" FFXIII is released (Versus is more like a spin-off, so FFVII wouldn't have such a huge impact on it, FFVII wouldn't steal its thunder). As they said in the past, FFVII Remake is like a 3-4 year project, so don't expect to see it any time soon (if ever).

Hey, it's not Square that needs the money, it's Sony. Think of how much a FFVII remake on the PS3 will help the system. The way things are looking now for the PS3, I would say Sony needs it.

I am one of those FF7 loving people, who think any FF after FF7 sucked, and yes, i even dislike mecha FF6. (FF5 all the way) and yes, i still think FF7 is a great Game.

However, i am not willing to buy a PS3 at 600$ for it, and even less do i want a remake. I just want FF7 Ep 2 or something, using midgar as main place again, it was the universe and the materia system that made FF7 good, not Cloud or Sephiroth.

Anyhow, i doubt they are doing one right now, but for the future, i'll bet they will come out with a remake, the question is when / which generation :)

I personally think final fantasy VII has an appeal to it that surpasses all final fantasy games and while square will always produce top notch rpgs they've failed to match up to the quality of ff7 in terms of story in my opinion others may feel differently.

I agree optaviusx.. I feel that there was just this special magic about FF7 and alot of other people may feel the same. They probably wouldn't think about a Remake or made a movie on the Characters of the game if there wasn't something special about it.

See this is the ONLY FF to have a movie based on it and i believe there will be more sequels because there was another site i was on that said AC was a close to Clouds story, and dirge of cerberus is Vincents closing story...so there may be more such as a close to Tifas or somethin nothin to "excited about yet...
