PRESS RELEASE

September 22, 2008 – 2K Sports today announced details on Living Rosters, an exciting new innovative online feature for this season’s highly anticipated basketball title, NBA 2K9. Living Rosters will ensure dedicated fans are playing with the most up-to-date and complete basketball experience ever available in the NBA 2K franchise. In addition to delivering constant updates to player ratings and player tendencies, Living Rosters will also offer exclusive access to unlockable animation packages for players in the game. When a player starts to heat up and takes his game to the next level on the real courts, new animation packages will unlock for that player in the video game. As the NBA season progresses, so will NBA 2K9, as players will have the ability to pull off new moves never seen before in the video game, adapt their offensive and defensive rotations, and shift starting lineups as they occur. If it happens during the regular NBA season, it will happen in NBA 2K9 thanks to Living Rosters.0

2K Games today announced their first foray into the XBox Live Arcade arena. MLB Stickball, an "exciting, fast-paced, multiplayer game," is set to be released on Xbox Live on October 8, 2008. It is similar to FIFA Street style play, we assume. No word on cost yet.

Ken Levine, the 2K man behind BioShock, spoke with GI about their next project after the critically acclaimed BioShock. BioShock was praised for its unique stylization, which basically was an interpretation of what would happen had the technology style of the 40s and 50s persisted until today. It was certainly a breath of fresh air in that respect. Be that as it may, Levine says that the next project has a very different goal in mind. It will focus on the players 'long term' relationship with the game, whatever that means.

2K Games has signed Cryptic Studios' MMO games Champions Online for Xbox360 and PC. This is 2K's first MMO game, and it is due out in Spring 2009. This is the same studio that created City of Heroes and City of Villains, the NCSoft PC MMO hits. The game is based on the pen-and-paper game Champions, and should play along the same lines as CoH/Cov.

“Given their stellar pedigree and amazing grasp of the MMO genre, we are confident that Champions Online will deliver an innovative and exciting action MMO experience to gamers."
