Gamecube Pad Will Not Work With Wii Twilight Princess >
2006/08/16 17:36:46: Posted by DM
This is from a chat today at Camp Hryule, Nintendo's online Summer camp. In a chat with George Harrison, Nintendo’s Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications, it was revealed that while the Gamecube pad will be able to play the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess on the Wii, it will not be able to be utilized to play the Wii version of the game on the Wii console. As you know, Nintendo will be releasing two versions of Zelda: Twilight Princess, a Gamecube version, and a Wii version. Also, click read more for a tidbit about the virtual console service, and how it may feature new games created specifically for download (similar to the XBL Arcade).(Thanks, Ant1532)

TSA: Hi. What is up with the release status of Twilight Princess - is it coming out on GCN everywhere, or just here? Also, will we be able to use the GCN controller for the Wii version?”
NOA_GEORGE_HARRISON: Zelda TP will be releasing on both GCN and Wii on the same day as the launch of Wii.
NOA_GEORGE_HARRISON: The GCN controller will be able to play the GCN version on the Wii console, but will not be able to play the Wii version.

SHY: Are they any plan for new (non-classic) Virtual Console games from Nintendo?
NOA_GEORGE_HARRISON: Virtual console offers the possibility for us to create new games, but our focus right now is in getting the Wii hardware launched and new games from Nintendo on the virtual console will be coming sometime after the launch.

I am buying the gamecube version. I had it pre ordered for 2 years now and the Wii controller does not appeal to me for playing a Zelda game.

is somebody complaining about this? i don't get it. with the wii, you can play the gamecube version with the gamecube controller... but you can't play the wii version with the gamecube controller.

That's a little like asking why you can't fly on the plane you made out of a sheet of notebook paper.

You can use it the way it was meant to be used, but you can't use old stuff on a a version that requires stuff the old technology can't do. so what?

what a dumbass u guys are !!!

the wii version was meant for motion sensor game so it really its not the same version, even if they are they both have different control schemes ! by the way wii version has better improvement graphic !

so shut the fuck up and get it straigh !

my gosh why does there gota a be a dumbass to argue about anything....

without thinking !

actually, the Wii version does *not* have improved graphics. it's the exact...same...game. you know, the one that should have been released practically a year ago for the Gamecube, but Nintendo decided to do us a favor and force us to wait for it so they could retool it to sell their new console.

i'm getting the Gamecube version. that's the one i was supposed to get fall 2005, then Spring 2006. after that, i'm not buying anymore Nintendo games for a long, long time.

sorry i didn't know that, but i got it from ign.com, where they said the differehnce are, water effect has more particles and more bump mapping... so i wouldn't care cause i never played it but i am sure they did thats why they review it or preview it !

And as for you not buy nintendo games ! thats okay !, too many fans too much money somehow they need to to loose one of your money :p

nixon your a moron, just stop posting.

The only difference in graphics is the Wii version will support 16x9 widescreen.

wii will suport gamecube controlers...they could be switch on the back of the console in case that you dont like the new controlers.

check this site ( read where say "other features" )

wii.nintendo.com/hardware

sory wrong site

check this one.

wii.nintendo.com/hardware.html

P.S - you guys , should do a litle bit more research before post.

MAKAVELI - The wii can use gamecube controllers but they are just for gamcube games, when the system is playing a Wii game you wont be able to use the gamecube controller.

So in other words you have to buy both Zelda games if you want to play it with the gamecube controller and the Wii controller.

damm....nintendo got no love for the gamers...

Ive been a nintendo fanboy for years now but this news is the last straw for me. I really fucking hate the new wii controller and tbh the only reason I was going to buy a wii was because I could use my gc controller for the wii version of twilight princess (yes I was going to buy a wii for just one game). But now nintendo are making use of that monstrocity mandatory?! Fuck it nintendo really dropped the ball on this one. I will not be buying a wii anytime soon. Also, SSBB is supposed to use the GC controller as well, but now that theyve gone back on their word for Twilight princess, how long will it be before they announce that SSBB is a wiimote only game as well?

I think I'll save up and buy a ps3 instead, fuck nintendo.

i ordred the nintendo wii and i wanna get zelda but i dnt wanna use the remote looking control pad it looks to complicated , plus i found out that gamecube controllers are only used for gamecube games which sucks, so i dunno if its easier buying the gamecube version of twilight princess or seeing if theres another (normal looking) control pad for the wii??? plus i dunno wen the gamecube twilight princess comes out cos in the uk the wii comes out on 8th december
