I don't think it'll be identical to the 360 version.

This game is a nice test for the ps3.. to see what the real deal is with its gpu. I want to see softshadows + 4XAA & HDR like the 360 version is using.

Well if ti's anything like the recently released AC4 screens. I don't think AA will be seen anytime soon.

I just looked at the screens shot. If they are in fact taken from the PS3 version. There AA being applied.

Theres this rumor going around that the RSX could be nVidia's next gen G80 GPU which will use the unified shader pipelines that ATI beat them to, except without support for DX10 and Shader Model 4.0. A lot of diagrams have been shown from reliable sites such as PCWatch showing that the RSX is related to the G80.

Heres a diagram: pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/2006/0727/kaigai05l.gif

See where the RSX is? This could be pure speculation, but since developers with the final RSX are keeping their mouths shut it could be possible. But if the RSX is indeed a G80, then it could do just about everything that the 360 GPU can do. And if it can't, aww well..a little bit of jaggies is better than a whole lot of jaggies ( cough PS2 games). Plus aliasing is a problem in all game consoles, its just something you gotta get used to. Gameplay is something people should worry about, not what type of HDR or AA the devs are using for the game. But thats my opinion ;]

No I mean HDR + AA is a weakness for all Nvidia GPUS (and especially should be no different from the rsx especially since its NV47 based aka 7800GTX.) The 7900GTX even has this issue.

With the 7800GTX 512 gpu for one in fear with softshadows and 4XAA enabled the performance was in the ballpark of 16fps, but this was at a 1600x1200 reso. At 1024x768 the fps was 37 on the nvidia gpu, but 58+ on the x1900xtx and this was all with no HDR so I'll be paying close attention to fear on the ps3 for this very reason to see what the situation is.

The rsx is definitely not a g80 design gpu. Conversations with developers that have their hands on the ps3 hardware can confirm this plus nvidia themselves and sony most recently disclosed in stock meetings the nature of the rsx design.

That chart there only has to do with where the gpu stands as far as die size and process technology are concerned. The outline color of each box represents the process technology its built on. Dark blue means both the 360 and rsx are built on a 90nm process.

Now the color inside the box represents the gpu's capabilities as far as directx technology is concerned. Notice the 360 gpu is colored pink on the inside which represents directx 10? Inside the rsx the color represents a directx 9 shader model 3.0 part.

True, thanks opta for pointing that out. But like ive said, as long as the PS3 can put out better graphics than current gen consoles then im happy i dont really care about the hardware. Ive just mentioned the whole G80 rumor because its been circulating around forums and stuff, didnt want to make people think im crazy or something lol.

I just hope the framerate isn't shitty :> This including the 360 version (based on some indoor rumors...)
Written by blah on 2006/08/17

Well its still early, they got plenty of time to fix the bugs and all that jazz. And It looks like they just got started on the PS3 version since the screens kinda look bleh lol.

this is good news for those that don't own it on the PC. i saw it for the 360 at E3 this year, and i was very unimpressed. it looks better on my PC. still, the game is fun, and most of the graphical bells and whistles will probably be there. a few textures may be a bit lower resolution, but the atmosphere (which is what makes F.E.A.R. so badass) i'm positive will make the transition.

For those that haven't played Fear, I'd recommend it, as it's a great shooter with some creepy moment and brilliant gunfights. The bullet time allows you to do some class moves on your opponents and watching a grenade that you've just thrown tumble end over end in slow motion then land among a bunch of flak jacket wearing goons is pretty damn impressive. 360 / PS3 should handle the game just fine ;)

Hey Opta, I seem to remember reading somewhere that Xenos supported some elements of DX10 but not all, am trying to find the link but don't suppose you've heard anything?
Written by silverwolf on 2006/08/18

I heard that also1 I guess that's why in the graph they just colored it pink instead of moving it completely to the DX10 side.

i will not be surprise if ps3 come with a overclocked rsx in november.

with the current specs its clear that xenos smashes...but sony will have to think in have good games for their console instead cares so much about raw power.

ok halo2 have great games ,gta san andreas shit graphs///but who sold more?
