More DMC On Xbox360 News >

According to one of the GAF posters who recently was in on a Capcom conference call, Dead Rising is going to surpass 1 million sold soon. That is not the interesting part though. According to the poster, "Capcom USA is rallying Capcom Japan to release DMC4 for the 360 day and date with the PS3 version." due to the great sales of Dead Rising. Great news, rumor for now.

No more PS3 exclusives?!?.... What will the PS fanboys say now!? Haha just kidding :P
Written by Itaintrite on 2006/08/21

Misleading title. It's not "news" when it's not even confirmed. It WOULD be funny if the PS3 lose DMC exclusivity but gain RE5.
Written by silverwolf on 2006/08/21

Wasn't RE5 already slated for the XB360?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DONT LET THIS BE TRUE PLEASE I DONT WANT GOOD GAMES ON THE 360 THEY DONT DESIRVE IT. ow well it still comes to PS3 and they have been working hard on the PS3 version so maybe the 360 user get a very bad port. Anyways if this true than PS3 still the most exlusiefs (The good ones noobs!) i mean FF13, MGS4, Assasins Creed, -FF versus 13 Gran Turismo 5 GTA 4 Killzone Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, unreal tournament 2007 and so on and on..
Written by Kenny K on 2006/08/21

PS3, i would really watch what and how you say things. obviously you are one of the biggest fanboys to ever come to this site. also your as blind as a fanboy comes

its a fact that the ps3 has the least amount of confirmed exclusives between the 3 systems with the 360 having the most. also Assasins creed is not confirmed but many speculate it will be headed to the 360 and GTA4 has been confirmed for the 360 so right there you prove how little you really know.

why would 360 owners not deserve the title? if they support capcom they very well deserve all they get.

its fanboys like you that ruin game discussions.

Written by Kenny K on 2006/08/21

shitty game or not, having DMC on the 360 would not only do microsoft a lot of good but gamers in general.

for any gamer to be so selfish and biased to hold a 3rd party franchise to only one console is dumb at best. i know i may not seem it but i am not biased to any console, i just see things how they are.

Response to Kenny K and PS3,

Kenny K, you did a nice job of correcting PS3 on many of the mistakes he made about games being released exclusively for the PS3. Many of those games he listed are also being released for the Xbox 360. Let me give you some updates on information regarding the games PS3 mentioned:

1. Assassins Creed was originally shown for the Xbox 360 at the X05 trade show; it was shown under the name Project Assassins. Also, the version of Assassins Creed shown at the 2006 E3 trade show was running on Xbox 360 hardware. These are excellent indicators that we will be playing this game on the Xbox 360, although, we may be playing it under a different name. Just because the PS3 version was the only one officially announced at the 2006 E3 does not mean others are never going to be released. For example, Fight Night Round 3 was originally announced only for the Playstation 3, but it is out NOW for the Xbox 360! A game called The Darkness was also originally announced for only the Playstation 3, but you can see it online NOW for the Xbox 360. The bottom line is that this game will definitely be released for the Xbox 360 and the PC.

2. Unreal Tournament has been officially announced for the Xbox 360 by Midway CEO, David Zucker. Unreal Tournament 2007 is yet another game that was originally announced only for the Playstation 3, even though everyone knew it would also be coming to the PC and the Xbox 360. Thankfully, Midway CEO David Zucker put an end to all of the speculation when he officially made it clear that Unreal Tournament 2007 would be released for the Xbox 360 and the PC, in addition to the PS3. Originally, Unreal Tournament 2007 was supposed to be released at the time of the PS3 launch, but this game has since been delayed until sometime in the late winter or summer of 2007.

In fact, when Midway announced the delay of Unreal Tournament 2007, the PS3 version was not even mentioned by name on the release, which caused many people to speculate that the PS3 version has been cancelled or severely delayed by a length of time that will cause the PS3 version to be released much later than the PC and Xbox 360 versions. This would be very similar to what has recently happened with all of the major PS3 delays from THQ (with WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2007) and cancellations announced by From Software. You can read about what Midway CEO David Zucker had to say at this link: next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2958&Itemid=32

3. Grand Theft Auto 4 is not going to be released exclusively for the Playstation 3. At the 2006 E3 trade show, it was officially announced that the game would be released on the same day for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. It was also announced that the Xbox 360 version of the game would have online bonus content and special features not included in the Playstation 3 version. Recently, a major analyst organization in the world of videogames said that Grand Theft Auto 4 is now on schedule to be release ONE MONTH EARLIER for the Xbox 360!

4. Also, since we are talking about exclusive games, and you seem to like Grand Theft Auto style gameplay, I should probably mention that the Xbox 360 has two games that are receiving a lot of hype as high-quality games. One is called Saints Row, and it is a very good game; it is very fun to play; it will be released very soon. The other game is called Crackdown, and it looks like an absolutely type of game with Grand Theft Auto style gameplay. Anyone who likes Grand Theft Auto will love Crackdown for the Xbox 360!

5. Do you realize that all of the games you mentioned for the Playstation 3 are not going to be released until mid 2007 to 2008!!! For example, Metal Gear Solid 4 will not be released until the fall of 2007. Unreal Tournament 2007 has been delayed until the summer of 2007. Final Fantasy XIII is not scheduled to be released until sometime in 2008. In reality, Final Fantasy games are almost always delayed, which means that Final Fantasy XIII will probably come out at an even later point in time!!!

6. Personally, I think it would be a lot better idea to wait until late 2007 to even consider the PS3; that is when games like Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released, and a price drop will probably have occurred by then. Why even consider buying the expensive PS3 with such expensive games when the majority of them are also on the Xbox 360, and the Xbox 360 versions are actually better! For example, games like Fight Night Round 3 and The Darkness were better looking on the Xbox 360 than the PS3 when the PS3 versions were shown at the 2006 E3!

7. I had been saying for some time that Devil May Cry 4 would be coming to the Xbox 360. There really were reliable sources of information that were saying this for some time. The actual word on the street is that the Playstation 3 version has been severely delayed, and the Xbox 360 version is now the primary focus. The rumor on Gamer Report says that the Xbox 360 version and the PS3 version will be released on the same day, but this is different than what I had been hearing. The Playstation 3 will be very lucky if it sees Devil May Cry 4 at all!!!

8. The fact that the Xbox 360 Dead Rising, which is one of my favorite games, is awesome! The sales figures speak for themselves, and Capcom’s business management staff has made the correct decision by supporting the Xbox 360 more than any other videogame system. The fact that the Xbox 360 will also have Lost Planet released exclusively is another reason why I am so happy I bought an Xbox 360! The worldwide sales success of the Xbox 360 is also the reason why Resident Evil will now be making an appearance on the Xbox 360 for the first time when Resident Evil 5 is released. I have always been a fan of Capcom, and I will end up owning all of those games for the Xbox 360. High quality software like that is the reason why people have fun playing videogames.

9. By the way, there is an excellent chance that Metal Gear Solid 4 will also be released for the Xbox 360. The same can be said for Final Fantasy XIII. We will find out about those games at the 2006 Tokyo Game Show later this year. Just remember, Square originally announced Final Fantasy VII exclusively for the Nintendo 64...but it ended up on the Playstation. This same thing may end up happening with the Xbox 360.

Response to MAKAVELI,

The PS3 versions of Fight Night Round 3 looked noticeably inferior to the Xbox 360 version. Obviously, the game was not complete, but the point is that it is being released nearly a year later, at a more expensive price, and it will be virtually the same game. As far as The Darkness goes, both versions will be released at approximately the same time, but once again, the Xbox 360 version looked better...and it will almost certainly cost less, since PS3 uses Blu-ray technology for all games, even when it's not necessary--which is almost always.

Bud, you CLEARLY do NOT know what you are talking about. I STILL have issues of Gamefan Magazine from 1995 in my collection, and I have the issues that show Squaresoft and Nintendo jointly announcing that Final Fantasy VII would be developed exclusively for the "Ultra 64," as it was called at the time. Nintendo and Squaresoft showed demos of the game that were supposedly running on actual "Ultra 64" hardware. However, those demos would never really have been possible, because it was not actually running on Nintendo 64 hardware; it was all prerendered computer graphics running on a Silicon Graphics Onyx computer workstation, which was state of the art at the time.

One year later, after the Playstation had sold so much better than expected, Squaresoft announced that Final Fantasy VII would be released exclusively for the Playstation, and this caused Nintendo's longtime Japanese President, Hiroshi Yamauchi, to publicly rip on Squaresoft in the media. In fact, at one point Mr. Yamauchi even said that he would not allow Squaresoft to make games for the Nintendo 64 at all; eventually, he changed his mind about that.

As far as Devil May Cry 4 goes, it is a third-party game with ABSOLUTELY NO CONTRACT signed for exclusivity on any system. Capcom games like Dead Rising and Lost Planet are signed as exclusives to the Xbox 360, but Devil May Cry 4 is NOT signed as an exclusive to the Playstation 3.

Capcom originally announced it for the Playstation 3, because they thought that the market would be strong on the Playstation 3, since all other Devil May Cry games were released on the Playstation. Extremely strong sales for Dead Rising and Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting, and a HUGE number of Lost Planet downloads changed Capcom's mind about how large and profitable the market for Xbox 360 games was. Capcom originally expected Dead Rising to sell approximately 600,000 copies, but they now expect it to sell over one-million copies!!! Capcom of America is doing everything they can to make sure that Capcom of Japan gives the authority to release Devil May Cry 4 for the Xbox 360.

As far as Metal Gear Solid 4 goes, when you consider that the original Xbox already has a Metal Gear Solid game, it would be very foolish to say that Metal Gear Solid 4 has no chance of appearing on the Xbox 360. Assuming that both Microsoft and Sony reach their sales goals, when Metal Gear Solid is released in the fall of 2007, the Xbox 360 will have outsold the Playstation 3 by a ratio of 3:1. This means it would be a TERRIBLE business decision to avoid releasing Metal Gear Solid 4 for the Xbox 360, especially when you consider that the developers of this game have made it clear that Metal Gear Solid 4 could easily be programmed to run with the same level of performance for the Xbox 360 and PC.

Here is a hyperlink that makes it clear that this game will only be exclusive to the PS3 for a very short time period...if any: news.spong.com/article/9417?cb=687

By the way, FIFA Soccer 2007 was announced by Microsoft and EA as an Xbox 360 Exclusive today. This means that this year the Xbox 360 is the ONLY place to play next-generation Soccer (Football in other parts of the world), because both the Soccer game from EA and the Soccer game from Konami will be on the Xbox 360, but not the PS3.

One more thing, very STRONG word--official from one industry analyst--has said that Grand Theft Auto 4 will now be released on the Xbox 360 ONE MONTH before the PS3 version, and the Xbox 360 will still include all of the bonus content and special features that the PS3 version won't.

Reply to MAKAVELI,

There is a HUGE difference between the PS3 being able to play Blu-ray discs and the PS2 being a free DVD player. At the time the PS2 launched, the DVD format was already the 100% agreed upon format for the next generation. DVD was also something that the games really did need, mainly because of storage issues. The overwhelming majority of games released this generation will not even come close to filling a dual-layer DVD, let alone a Blu-ray. Sony insists on releasing all games on Blu-ray, though, even when it isn’t necessary. This is a waste money for gamers. When PS2 launched, DVD players and DVD/CD-RW devices were installed in almost every PC and Laptop as well. This allowed the prices to get lowered BIGTIME.

But with the Playstation 3, this is obviously not the case in each of those situations. For example, Blu-ray certainly is not the standard format this time; HD-DVD is the technology that the DVD Forum has selected to be the official successor to the DVD format. Also, Blu-ray technology has definitely not become a standard PC technology like the DVD/CD-RW format did. Plus, when the PS2 launched, DVD's were a HUGE step up from VHS technology. DVDs added digital signals, which was a HUGE improvement over the analog signals of VHS. Blu-ray doesn't make that kind of fundamental leap in improvement.

Also, when you play a standard DVD on a HDTV from a source that causes it to be upconverted to high-definition, the standard DVDs look virtually identical to Blu-ray movies. The reason for this is because Sony has chosen to use the same sort of Compression Technology that standard DVD's use; it is called MPEG-2. All Blu-ray movies released so far use the ten-year old MPEG-2 compression technology, just like all DVD movies use MPEG-2. This is a BAD thing for Blu-ray.

HD-DVD discs use the newest compression technology available, called VC-1; it was invented by Intel and Microsoft. Sony easily could choose to use VC-1 for Blu-ray discs, but they do not want to pay licensing fees or royalties to their competitors. As a result, Blu-ray discs end up looking nearly identical to standard DVDs that have been upconverted to high-definition. HD-DVD, on the other hand, looks MUCH better than standard DVDs or Blu-rays.

Sony could have released the Playstation 3 for a price that was less expensive than the Xbox 360 if they would not have included Blu-ray. The DVD drive in the Xbox 360 costs $21 to manufacture. The price of the Blu-ray drive in the PS3 costs $325. The price of the standard DVD drive in the PS2 only added about $100 to the cost of the system when it first launched, and that price fell DRAMATICALLY as time passed, because DVD was the agreed upon standard in the industry.

Blu-ray is NOT the agreed upon standard, and it has been significantly outsold by HD-DVD. Blu-ray technology is used in VERY FEW PC’s. Blu-ray has received poor reviews ever since the first player was released earlier in the year. This means the price will NOT fall dramatically in the same way that DVD drives did when used with the PS2 and Xbox.

Currently, I have a Samsung HDTV that upconverts all signals to 1080p resolution. This causes standard DVDs to look amazing on it; they look virtually identical to Blu-ray movies, since they both use the same Compression Technology to store the audio and video. My friend’s HD-DVD looks the best of all formats on my HDTV, but I didn't buy an HD-DVD player yet, because of the HUGE number of rumors saying that the Xbox 360 HD-DVD movie player will be very inexpensive. I am looking forward to getting that HD-DVD movie player when it is released.

Lost Planet is Exclusive?
Written by mike_mgoblue on 2006/08/25

Reply to a (13),

Bottom line: Capcom of America is doing everything they can to pressure Capcom of Japan into releasing Devil May Cry 4 for the Xbox 360. The reason for this is because the sales of Dead Rising for the Xbox 360 were so much more than originally expected. Dead Rising for the Xbox 360 outsold Resident Evil 4 for the PS2 and Gamecube. This is the bottom line reason why Capcom of America is pressuring Capcom of Japan to release Devil May Cry 4 for the Xbox 360. You can read about this here:

next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3658&Itemid=2

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a game that will appear on the Xbox 360. The best that the Playstation 3 could hope for is a period of Timed Exclusivity, but you can bet that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be available on the Xbox 360. Major websites have staked their reputation on this. This is just one example of a website making it clear that they fully expect Metal Gear Solid 4 to be released on the Xbox 360: news.spong.com/article/9417?cb=28

Lost Planet will remain exclusive to the Xbox 360 according to the businessmen at Capcom. When Mr. Jun Takeuchi was asked if Lost Planet would always remain exclusive to the Xbox 360, he made it clear that Capcom would always do its best to keep the game exclusive to the Xbox 360. The business executives at Capcom are the people who make final decisions like that, and Lost Planet has already been announced as an exclusive Xbox 360 game, just like Dead rising.

The big difference between Playstation 3 games like Devil May Cry 4 no longer being exclusive is because of money and sales figures. Dead Rising sold VERY WELL, and Capcom of America business executives are doing all they can to pressure Capcom of Japan to release the game for the Xbox 360. There is NOTHING for them to lose, because Sony hasn't paid for any kind of exclusivity, and they don't offer any sort of licensing benefit to Capcom for releasing the game exclusively on the Playstation 3.

HOWEVER, Microsoft has a deal with third-party developers where there is virtually no licensing payment to Microsoft if a game is released exclusively for the Xbox 360. THAT is the MAJOR reason why Capcom is keeping it as an Xbox 360 exclusive. Even if a game like Lost Planet were to ever be released for the PS3, it would be after the Timed Exclusivity period for the game had run out on the Xbox 360. Who would want to wait at least a year to play an AWESOME game like Lost Planet! Everyone will buy it on the Xbox 360 the day it is released!!!

This hypothetical situation would cause a game like Lost Planet on the PS3 to end up suffering the same fate as Metal Gear Solid 2 did when it was released on the Xbox: So many people would have already purchased it the first time it was released that it would actually HURT sales of the later release on Playstation 3. This would have the potential to cause Capcom to rethink their business strategies and say, "If a game like Lost Planet on the Xbox 360 outsells the PS3 version by this huge of a margin, we shouldn't release any more games like this on the PS3 ever again."

This is the reason why Metal Gear Solid 3 and Resident Evil games were not released on the original Xbox. Thankfully, the Xbox 360 will be seeing the release of Resident Evil 5. The Xbox 360 will almost certainly see the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, since the Xbox 360 will have outsold the Playstation 3 by at least a 3:1 margin by the fall of 2007 when Metal Gear Solid 4 is released. In fact, Sony’s stock was reduced by a large margin today, on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, because Mitsubishi UFJ Securities officially said that they are lowering the expected sales of the Playstation 3 from 6 million to 3 million by March of 2006. You can read about this here: next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3689&Itemid=2

You also can read here about how certain industry analysts have been for some time that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be coming to the Xbox 360: news.spong.com/article/9417?cb=28

As far as HD-DVD goes, you are correct that Sony could easily choose to use VC-1 Compression Technology if they wanted to...but the point is that they do NOT choose to! EVERY Blu-ray released up to this point in time--and every Blu-ray scheduled to be released--uses the ten-year old MPEG-2 Compression Technology used in standard DVD discs. HD-DVD uses the newest Compression Technology of all, which is called VC-1; it was invented by Microsoft and Intel. The reason Sony chooses not to use VC-1 is because they do not want to pay licensing fees and royalties to those competitors.

Also, there are only 26 Blu-ray movies currently available, and many of them have received poor reviews, because standard DVDs upconverted to high-definition look virtually identical to them, since both standard DVD and Blu-ray movies both use the ten-year old MPEG-2 audio/video Compression Technology for all movies released.

Currently, there are TWICE as many HD-DVD movies available, and they all use the brand new VC-1 Compression Technology that makes the movies look AMAZING on an HDTV!!!

From August 29, 2006 to November 1, 2006, there will be 25 additional Blu-ray discs released according to the release schedules. HOWEVER, there will be an additional 67 HD-DVD movies released!!!

You will only be able to watch the Star Trek movies on HD-DVD. You will only be able to watch The Matrix movies on HD-DVD. You will only be able to watch The Lord of the Rings movies on HD-DVD. You will only be able to watch the Harry Potter movies on HD-DVD. Action packed movies like Twister and Story movies like Forrest Gump will only be available on HD-DVD. HD-DVD is 100% BETTER than Blu-ray, not just because it looks and sounds better, but because of the AWESOME movies ONLY available on HD-DVD!!!

And here are some hyperlinks that make it clear that HD-DVD is WAAAAAAY better than Blu-ray:

By the way, A (13),

It is alright to purchase products made in foreign countries such as America. It will not hurt the Japanese economy for Japanese people like you to purchase American made automobiles, electronics, appliances, or videogames. Believe it or not, GM, Ford, and Chrysler make great products! And the same can be said about Microsoft with all of their software and hardware devices. Do not listen to the nonsense that you are taught about being loyal to the Japanese manufacturers!!! That is what actually KILLS the economy of a country!!! That is the reason why Japan is going through a recession right now!!!

If Japanese consumers would purchase foreign products, money would flow to Japanese retailers, and they would need to hire new help. Then, more people would be working, and more money would get spent in stores, which would cause an increase of sales in the area of both Japanese and foreign products. This would mean even more people in production factories would need to be hired, and more engineers. Do you see my point? Quit begging people to purchase the PS3 because you live in Japan. If you want a PS3, then get one. But don't ask others to purchase a PS3, just because you believe that would be a personal benefit; that is very selfish and dishonorable.

Blu-ray is 81%(BUENA VISTA,Sony Pictures,MGM,20th CENTURY FOX,Warner Bros,Paramount Pictures), and 49.1% is Blu-ray only. (BUENA VISTA,Sony Pictures,MGM,20th CENTURY FOX,Lionsgate)

HD DVD is 44.2%(Warner Bros,Paramount Pictures,Universal Pictures), and 12.3% is HD DVD only. (Universal Pictures)

It might be present place Sony Pictures and be MGM title that keep using MPEG2 to our regret. Other companies do not include the company that keeps using VC-1 that loved MS of old MPEG2 and you made.

The movie that needs two layers to make it to the high-resolution increases in MPEG2. The image of VC-1 looks clear because the bit rate is suppressed cutting the film grain. If MPEG-4 AVC is used, it becomes a near image in the original without cutting the film grain by the low bit rate. Everyone will use MPEG-4 AVC (Sony Pictures and MGM ?).

Mistake

To our regret, the thing of Europe is liked in Japan as for the car of foreign. Most Japanese cannot have receiving by the design, the function, and the concept of the United States car.

It is criticized to write that I want to say like the fact to which you fixed the rumor etc.You are intentionally leading the reader by the variable. MissIf it wants to do Metal Gear Solid 4 etc. , it only has to buy PS3, and if it wants to do DEADRISING, it only has to buy 360.
