Viva Pinata Website Officially Relaunched >
2006/09/13 9:35:55: Posted by DM
The Viva Pinata official website has been relaunched. It has a distinct Kameo-esque feel, which is normal. The game is due out within the netx 2 months, and it promises to be a ton of fun, very Animal Crossing.

This game looks like pure Sh!t..Rare has truly lost whatever talent they ever had.

I saw a bit of the animated show. I know its aimed at younglings, but, wtf.... why does every Pinata have an attitude problem? Is this what appeals to American children?
Written by Doc (128) on 2006/09/13

LMAO!! Never paid too much attention to the attitudes. Good point!

This is a great game for th kids and if you are not one why would you be interested? It's innovative and offers a lot of features kids would love.
Written by optaviusx on 2006/09/13

Solidus incorrect..

No the game doesn't look like pure sh!t don't you realize what audience its targeting? Also its a lot deeper than anyone is giving it credit for. Also we'll see how crappy rare is when they reveal their new ips. Don't attempt to judge rare because of the launch.. launch titles are launch titles for a reason.

Also DM I sent ya Tri-Ace's 360 rpg info its called infinite undiscovery and a good amount of Lost Odyssey info it will be playable at tgs and the demo is released early november.

If I were an uncle I'd be playing this for sure :)

I'll let the reviews sort this one, i hesitate to pass judgment until I can try it or read the impressions of Many who have.

Nice Graphics to say the least, if the frame rate holds.

The framerate is rock solid they just had issues with one of the setups at leipzig. The only time framerate dropped on the fixed version is when they did something of importance, but moving around it was solid.

Such a minor thing will be easily fixed on release.

No this game is garbage I totally value your opinon Optaviusx but I have not heard one journalist call this anything but garbage not one! If you have a couple kids I can totally imagine why you dig it but no it doesnt look good at all for anyone above 11. And unfortunately Rare has lost a lot of its talent over the years. They lost pretty much the whole Goldeneye and Perfect Dark staff and its really starting to show. I know with a statement like that I should have a link to back it up but it was on a 1up podcast they were all talking about how they think Rare has lost their talent and I think John said its because they have lost a lot of the original guys.

And im not hating just to hate but I seriously see you(even though as I said you have a valuable opinion)

and only you defending this game.

Well its only couple months into the 360's life they have plenty of time to prove to us they still got it in em right? :)

Just give them time the only journalists that had anything bad to say about this game are ones that refuse to understand what its targeting and its purpose. Its not meant to be on the scale of something like halo 3, ff 13, mgs4 its a strategy both Microsoft and Rare are pursuing to expand the demographic for the 360 and it'll work mostly with kids.

There are teams within rare that would never make such a kiddy game as Viva Pinata. Rare didn't lose most of their talent at all they lost some guys, but the positions those guys filled are easily replaceable they didn't lose anyone of major importance like say a konami losing kojima type deal that didn't happen.

There are just as many talented people still left within rare they didn't lose their biggest guns believe me on this.

In a nutshell they did lose some talented people, but majority of that talented stayed as opposed to leaving. They'll show us what they got at X06 :D

True True..X06 will be some good times.

Pinata is probably more important for MS than Halo3. The actual game isnt on the level of Halo3, but, its the entire concept that is larger in scale.

Halo 3 will sell in the millions; thats pretty much a sure thing. But, it doesnt expand 360's market presense beyond those looking for a top notch FPS.

On the other hand, Pinata is meant to be MS's Pokemon. A cash cow with revenue from games, toys, movies, TV, etc, etc. It has much more potentional to expand the 360's presense into a younger and family-oriented part of the market.
Written by optaviusx on 2006/09/13

In a way you're right Frutiy. If Halo 3 were coming this year there would be no question as to which they'd push more, but for this year Viva Pinata is quite possibly Microsoft's most important project.

Then again Blue Dragon is just as big because there is no question Microsoft wants to be a success in Japan so Blue Dragon is a strategically very important title as it alone can determine how much more japanese developer support the 360 receives in japan and

You wish opta. They lost LOADS of talents. Not some random, easy replaceble people, were talking kojima type status indeed.

Key members of the GoldenEye development team left Rare soon after completing work on Perfect Dark. Head of Software Martin Hollis was the first to leave in 1998, switching to Nintendo of America. Then David Doak, a lead programmer left soon after, and formed Free Radical Design. Later after the buyout of rare, he convinced many of his friends/co workers to join him after the sucess of timesplitters.

Rare havent made a good game since Perfect dark, nearly 6 years ago, and 5 games later. So im not holding my breath....

Thats really what im talking about OptaviusX is I remember it being a big deal when they lost those guys. As the G said it has been a long long time since they have made anything triple AAA. And a lot of criticisms against the game havent been that it isnt kiddy but just that it isnt any good. If you listen to the 1up show or the IGN weekly video they both talked about how its just kind of a lame concept that doesnt really work. Mielke of 1up is a huge fan of Pokemon and he said Pinata is just a very unispired game that may fool a few kids but even then he thinks will be largely ignored.

I agree solidus. Its not the fact its kiddy, ive never had a 'macho' complex. A good game is a good game, no matter the audience, but i havent heard news of this game bieng that good, time will tell though
