Apparently, Producer Mie Kumagai from Sega said that Sony has not delivered the necessary information about their online network to make coding the online mode possible. its funny when you see rumors like this.. even if true its just sad on teh developers part...

like what the other one is tony hawk ps3 may not have online support... now i know the devs are different but lets look at publishers for example as to not compare to sony published titles like resistance with its 40 player online..

tony hawk is published by activision... so will cod3, so if one game from a publisher has a good online experience for launch and the other will not... i'd have to say blame isn't with sony...

It is absolutely not a rumor that the new Tony Hawk game will not include online play on the Playstation 3. We are 100% certain that the Playstation 3 will NOT include online play. We are also certain that the Xbox 360 version of the new Tony Hawk game WILL include online play. Online play with Tony Hawk is AWESOME...and it will be with Virtua Tennis, too!

I agree with you...at first, I thought, "Tennis videogames are stupid." I thought to myself, "Even though Rockstar Game's Table Tennix on the Xbox 360 is $20 less expensive than the other games, why would I want to play a Table Tennis game."

But, then I had a friend who bought that game, and he said it was amazing! Then, I had another friend who said the same thing. Then, I saw Table Tennis for the Xbox 360 on sale for only $29, and I decided to buy it. I was GLAD I DID!!! That game is AWESOME!!!

Online play in Table Tennis for the Xbox 360 is AWESOME!!! There is absolutely NO LAG, and it is AWESOME!!! The Xbox 360 comes with a headset, so I am able to talk to all my friends while playing, and it is COOL!!!

It is a real shame that the Playstation 3 version of Virtua Tennis 3 will not be online compatible...Thankfully, the Xbox 360 version will be.

Idc really, im a fan of the Tony Hawk series and ill get it for the 360, online isnt an issue for me there. VT3 isnt exactly a killer app, and no online component for it doesnt really show that the PS3 isnt worth it. There are other games that look a lot more promising in online gameplay, like Resistance: FoM and Rainbow Six: Vegas.

As for "a small number of Sony fans left." You should go to other game sites and check out how many people are psyched about the PS3, they dont even care about the price point. Sony fanboys can be annoying, but 360 fanboys are just as annoying. They take rumors that are made from imaginary sources that have to do with the Ps3 being "broken" and make it into huge news that is "confirmed." Kotaku the other day stated that final dev kits were loud and that Sony is running out of Test kits. Many game sites and developers confirmed that the final dev kits aren't noisy at all and a developer at B3D stated that he just got in 12 PS3 test kits and that there is no shortage. Kinda stupid eh?

Aww well, i have confidence that Sony will deliver even though they are a bit too serious. Even though the Ps2 didnt deliver the Toy Story graphics, it was still a really good console. Ill be getting a PS3 and Wii this November 8)

xbox biased??? gamers reports is doing a fair job of reporting the industry's news. it just so happens that there is little positive ps3 news out there right now...not DM's fault, not gamers reports fault...get over it. when there is positive news on the ps3, gamers reports lists it (i.e. the price drop on the 20gb version in japan). also, there are more than enough sony fanboys on this site to cause a good discussion and argue for sony.

Smarty Pants, the reason why Ridge Racer 7 isn't that big of a deal, regardless of resolution or frame rate, is because of the fact that it doesn't use an impressive graphics engine. People criticized Ridge Racer 6 on the Xbox 360; they said that it looked very similar to original Xbox games. Ridge Racer 6 and Ridge Racer 7 are based on the same graphics engine, just like Full Auto and Full Auto 2. Ridge Racer 6 was the worst selling Xbox 360 videogame for a reason--people are simply not interested in playing the same old games with the same old graphics. Raising the resolution of the game from 720p to 1080p isn't anything special.

The Ridge Racer series needs to have additional gameplay elements added to it. Ridge Racer games also need to take advantage of a LOT more polygons! Otherwise, the games will just look like original Xbox games. Sadly, both Ridge Racer 6 and Ridge Racer 7 were built on the same graphics engine, and that graphics engine was based on the polygon performance of the Playstation 3, which is only capable of 275,000,000 polygons per second, rather than the Xbox 360, which is capable of 500,000,000 polygons per second. Situations like that allow the full power of the Playstation 3 to be displayed, while only a fraction of the Xbox 360 power is used. I think that is terrible, and I hope it stops in the future.

Sadly, third party games released for both systems will almost always use some sort of “lowest common denominator” sort of logic. Thankfully, the Xbox 360 is receiving more exclusive third party support with new intellectual franchise games such as Lost Planet, as well as exclusive first and second party support with games like Halo 3 and Gears of War.

The VERY simple FACT of the matter is that there is a LOT of POSITIVE information that is continually being reported about the Xbox 360.

This website is very unbiased. For example, this website provided a hyperlink to a PS3 website that said Armored Core 4 for the Xbox 360 was cancelled. No other website reported on that rumor. Thankfully, that rumor was false. Sega announced at the Tokyo Game Show that they will be publishing Armored Core 4 for the Xbox 360. But the point that Gamers Reports posted that rumor proves that this website is not biased.

The simply fact of the matter is that there are a lot of great things to write about in regards to the Xbox 360 at this point in time, but the Playstation 3 is a very controversial system that has disappointed a lot of people...Gamers Reports has been provided with an unending supply of hyperlinks to tell gamers about--all because of Sony and the mistakes, delays, deceptions, and other controversies associated with the Playstation 3.

Anyways, I agree with you 100%. This website is NOT biased. The Xbox 360 is just doing very well at this point in time.

The company situation respectively whether an online mode is put or do not put it. There is a game for an online mode in the launch title. The company that cannot correspond to an online mode is only making an excuse.

Name what mike said is true the triangle setup rate for the ps3 gpu is 275 million the triangle setup rate for the 360 gpu is 500 million, but that is just a single metric of performance and isn't any sort of signal of doom for the ps3 its a single metric of performance nothing more. Those triangle numbers are achieved in situations that aren't realistic for gaming hence no 360 title will use 500 million triangles and no ps3 game will use 275 million.

And name no they aren't making an excuse. Some developers have the libraries for the ps3s online infrastructure, but many others do not. The ps3's online service is still in its infancy it will take time before we end up seeing every title support it.

A third party dev may not see the same type of support a first party will.

Thats how I feel anyways, DM and NINE make this one of the unbiased sites I visit. It posts whats out thier, and when they comment on the situations they dont seem to overhype the situation, alas they dont try and downplay it either. Its just the current mood on the internet/blogsphere.

I can see why people would be annoyed, when they feel everyone is ragging on something they like, chatting rubbish (mike_mgo) and making up facts, then to see the actual site posting rumours, it can get really fustrating. Not that this is a rumour, im not sure yet.

They (fans of a company) notice good news from events like TGS they dont seem to see people promoting that or posting that. Wheras they may feel that its bieng promoted for other consoles. When you take things peronal, regardless of the medium, its not great to find it always crtisized. Its worse when the commenters are quick to accelerate the situation. Before you look at the 2nd post some xbox fan is telling you that Sony fans are bieng 'fooled' without relealising he is most likely the one who is 'fooled'.

It is true, especially in terms of PS3 news that the aforementioned poster types will immediately make a comparison of the 360 or post how crappy a PS3 game looks. Thank you very much for pointing out to the other gamers on this website that I was stating accurate facts. The information I stated is based on information I had read on multiple websites and in multiple magazines regarding the performance of the Xbox 360 GPU and the Playstation 3 GPU.

The 500,000,000 polygon per second performance for the Xbox 360 is what was measured as sort of a "performance scale," just like the 275,000,000 polygon per second performance for the PS3 was measures as sort of a "performance scale." I thought you did a great job of explaining this to our fellow gamers. Obviously, no game for either system will ever achieve "exactly" 500,000,000 polygons per second, or 275,000,000 polygons per second.

The important thing that matters is that the Xbox 360 Graphics Processing Unit is superior to the Playstation 3 Graphics Processing Unit.

Buddy, with all do respect, if I had to go to court in a legal battle to say that the Xbox 360 custom GPU hardware is superior to the generic GPU hardware used in the Playstation 3, I would have everyone in the videogame industry, including optaviusx, as a witness!!! The Sony fans that complain to DM that this is "a biased website" really like to rip on me a lot, because I keep up with information on all of the major websites, and I state the facts in terms of sales figures, specifications, statistics, and product reviews.

I truly am sorry if I have hurt anyone’s feelings, but, the fact of the matter is that Sony's Playstation 3 has disappointed a lot of people, ever since the 2006 E3 when Sony's lies, delays, cancellations, lack of features, and high prices were exposed.

All of the bad Playstation 3 news that major websites write about has just kept on coming and coming and coming, ever since the 2006 E3. This has given me a lot to write about, which appears like I may be an “anti-Sony fanboy” who does not like the Playstation 3; however, that is not the case at all. I have even seen a website write an article about the huge number of articles and all of the bad publicity that the Playstation 3 receives from the media! It just so happens that I usually comment on each of those articles written about the Playstation 3, and I almost always agree with the media that Sony is making a lot of mistakes.

Believe it or not, at the 2005 E3, I wanted to get the Playstation 3 more than anyone. However, at the 2006 E3, it became clear that Sony had pulled an "Ultra 64" on us at the 2005 E3. This means that everything said about the Playstation 3 at the 2005 E3 was a lie and/or deception. I was no longer pleased with the Playstation 3, and I was one of the many people who jumped off of the Sony bandwagon, and decided to take a "wait and see approach" with the PS3.

On the other hand, Microsoft has continually provided all of the major websites with good news and good games to write about. The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of great things happening for the Xbox 360 at this point in time. That is the reason why people think I am biased toward the Xbox 360. And that is the reason why people think Gamers Reports and other websites are biased towards the Xbox 360. However, there is no bias; it is just a simple matter of honest reporting that allows the Xbox 360 to receive the credit it deserves for being such a great game system.

People rip on you because you throw in your own spin. For example. Upon learning that the PS3 didn't include an HDMI cable, you stated that the PS3 would now cost 700.00+ if you wanted to use HDMI. False. Reporting the truth is best done when no opinion is offered. Instead, say, "Sony PS3 will not include HDMI with either the core or premium packages. Microsoft has seen large quantities of it's 360 console returned b/c of faulty launch products. Nintendo is offering it's older systems games for purchase on their virtual console."

If you wish to have an opinion, be prepared to have some opinions made about your opinion. Don't be upset if people disagree. After stating facts, include your argument. Differentiate fact and opinion. Optaviusx does this fairly well.

People rag on Sony right now, despite the "positive things" they have said, because we have seen this song and dance before. They promise a five course gourmet meal and deliver a McDonald's quarter pounder, no drink and no fries.

When I just responded to Edgeo fo Blade by saying, "The fact of the matter is that Sony's lies are catching up with them now," I was actually stating a fact. Look at all of the bad publicity Sony receives that relates to disappointments based on things Sony said would happen, but never did happen.

VaeVictus, you make a reference to the way I pointed out that people are disappointed with the Playstation 3's "lack of features."

One of the main things I was referring to was the lack of Rumble or Vibration in the Playstation 3 controller. Rumble and Vibration features in a controller are fundamental features that have become standard in the gaming environment of the 21st century. It is a terrible loss that the Playstation 3 disappointed people by not including that feature.



Also, one of the features I was referring to is the way that the Playstation 3 is coming out so much later than the Xbox 360, but the PS3 lacks so many of the online features that the Xbox 360 does. For example, Sony says, "sometime in the future, you can download some of the 16 bit games from the early 90’s.” However, that will not happen anytime soon, which is why I am referring to it as a “lacked feature,” since the competition currently offers that feature. After all, the Xbox Live Arcade allows features like that to happen NOW.

I realize that nobody expected the PS3 online features to be as good as the Xbox Live because Microsoft had such a long head-start with the original Xbox. But the PS3 is being released an entire year after the Xbox 360, and they still don’t have their stuff together. The fact that games like Tony Hawk will not include online gameplay on the Playstation 3, but they do include online gameplay on the Xbox 360 proves this.

The fact that Sony could still be so far behind and lack so many features that competitors such as Microsoft and Nintendo offer is very unforgiveable. If the Wii can offer similar features to Xbox Live Arcade when it launches, then the Playstation 3 should, too!

The one thing I would like to say to the sony fans on here that think we are biased: If we are so biased, why did we just aquire www.playstationforum.com to add to our growing list of gaming sites we run? The fact of the matter is we are a general gaming site. We will purchase a ps3 when its released, we will be giving one away to our readers (as we did with the xbox360). We will very likely be doing the same with the Wii. The reason for the rumors on the ps3 is because the industry as a whole is a bit down on sony, and they are an easy target, we aren't the originators of these rumors. My guess is once the ps3 is launched all the rumors will be put to rest and people will enjoy the console regardless of which rumors end up being true.
