The controversy over the Resident Evil 5 Xbox360 exclusivity rumor continues. Speaking to GI, Xbox Japan Boss Takahashi Sensui refused to put out the fire on rumors that the next RE installment will be exclusive to the Xbox360. He added:"All I can say is we are very good friends with Mr Inafune [the game's producer]".Very cryptic indeed, rumor mill for now.

in the history of the RE series... no game has never been an exclusive except RE zero
Written by sharod on 2006/09/26
Maybe it'll be a timed exclusive?... Seems like a lot of the "new gen" games are going to be timed exclusives.
Written by Sky (360) on 2006/09/26
now thats very possible.. i imagine the game is closer to complete on the 360 as oppose to the ps3... then been had 360 final kits
i like capcom because for the most part they play fair.. they give RE4 to nintendo first.. then released it ont he ps2 later... thats prolly the same case here with the 360 and ps3
X06 STARTS TOMMORROW!!! OR TONITE DEPENING ON THE TIME DIFFERENCE! WHA TIME IS IT IN BARCERLOA SPAIN?
Written by djjsin (53) on 2006/09/26
dont forget the remake of re1X06 starts tomorrow, its 4 pm in the uk right now, and spain is an hour away.
re4 would have been GC exclusive, if it actually sold well.. but since it didnt and they knew it was a great game, they were forced to release it elseware. I think this will be the same with re5

Microsoft needs all the hype they can get. GTA "exclusivity" anyone?
Written by djjsin (53) on 2006/09/26
supposedly famitsu announced that its exclusive to the 360 for 1 year....
Written by Nemesis IX (371) on 2006/09/26
didn't sell well resi 4 was impossible to get after launch day, in europe anyway. hope resi 5 comes to 360 and Wii.

Itaintrite, again you speak your biased rubbish. stop sniffing sony's @$$ for crying out loud. Peter made it clear that they would have exclusive episodic content from rockstar, nothing else. between the crowd reaction and overspeculation, it was the journalists and fans tbat took it too far.i really wish you idiots would think before posting, the whole game industry would be better that way.
Written by optaviusx on 2006/09/26
Itain... they never said it was exclusive and needs all the hype they can get? I could've swore Microsoft just came off a surprise TGS nobody expected them to have. Lets not forget how they rocked at E3 06 and Leipzig.djjsin I wouldn't buy that famitsu thing the person that said it is likely lying and a guy from capcom already came out and denied that the 360 had this game exclusive, but his response still leaves it pretty much open for the possibility that its a 360 timed exclusive.
Hey I really like what you guys have done with the site the bright orange letters make the site look much coolor along with the posters name having the bold text. Also I'd like to draw to everyone's attention that Resident Evil 5 was first announced at X05 and never not once has capcom ever said the ps3 or 360 versions would be releasing at the same exact time. One would assume with how much pressure is on capcom to deliver on this game (and them clearly having 360 final hardware sooner to work on the game) that they'd do everything in their power to build the game on the 360 first then release a top notch product then release on the ps3 later. Wrestling with a game engine on both the 360 and ps3 for such a huge title is something I don't think Capcom wants to do especially considering how different both these consoles are. I'm surprised rockstar is doing it with GTA4.
I personally think had the ps3 released first we wouldn't be talking about GTA4 + Resident Evil 5 being multiplatform I think both would be ps3 exclusives.
Written by Dlacy13g (40) on 2006/09/26
I think "if" it is a timed exclusive it will be more in the lines of the football(soccer) "exclusives" which basically is the developer just hasn't had enough time with the PS3 to bring it out when they originally intended so they will launch the 360 version to begin getting money off it ...then launch the PS3 when they complete it...and probably getting MS to give a chunk of cash to keep the PS3 version on the shelf for a few months for sure.
Written by optaviusx on 2006/09/26
Hmm thats certainly a possibility.

Executive Kazuhiko Abe"The costs have risen, so the question is how to recover them best. Even if the costs double, we now have three platforms for which to make content,” In relation to this, Abe further clarifies certain issues regarding the exclusivity status of several titles. Contrary to rumors circulating around, Resident Evil 5 is still scheduled for both X360 and PS3. A separate Umbrella Chronicles is planned for Wii."h ttp://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=11008doesent say when though

ouch that hurts .. Re5 for MS. Res for the wii. no sony.. T_T
Written by optaviusx on 2006/09/26
jeseushitler ps3 is going to be huge and pretty much nothing can stop that. It'll come down to which between it and the 360 can produce the more must have titles between the ps3's release and april 2008 that will decide who truly ends up winning the war between the 360 and the ps3. The winner WILL be decided by august 08.

Delusion delusion. 360 exclusive uses of RE5?It is impossible because there is no market of 360 in Japan. Wii?RE5 is not sold, and sold to Wii only for other Wii.
Written by optaviusx on 2006/09/26
There are no guarantees as we all know, but Microsoft has to feel pretty good about their current situation and sony has to feel just a bit worried (pay attention to their dropping of the ps3's price in japan) that was a major sign as to how unsure sony currently is. They saw japan taking interest in the 360 (a bit too much) and a bit of backlash in their home turf over the price and so they reacted, but whether it will be enough who knows. There are apparently a couple stores listing Xbox360 core consoles for EXACTLY $200.
Odins_wrath this is where you are confused no market? The consoles don't have the market its the games themselves. Just like people thought the final fantasy series had no market outside of a nintendo console until its huge runaway success on the playstation. Never say never and after dead rising's incredible sales in just a single territory its becoming more and more obvious that their market isn't just japan and capcom of all people know this.
Written by Sky (360) on 2006/09/26
i disagree opta.. the 360 poses no threat to the ps3 in japan if anything the console drop was geared towards the fight against wii in japan

Must be some bad rumour, never heard of it until now.
Written by the mad barber (63) on 2006/09/26
as much as i want to beleive this, i highly doubt that it's true :( but if i is im sure that i'll be cursing sony fanboys out for awhile :) (just for the hell of it)

My opinion consists of the following information:(1) We know for a fact that ever since Dead Rising and Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting greatly exceeded sales expectations and set new sales records for the Xbox 360, Capcom has been giving an even greater amount of support to the Xbox 360--and Capcom was one of the Xbox 360's greatest supporters to start with! (2) We know that Capcom of America was using Dead Rising sales figures to start a program where there would never again be a game released by Capcom exclusively for the Playstation 3, due to the high cost and long length of time needed to develop PS3 games. (3) We also know that Capcom of America said that it would be fine to continue releasing exclusive Xbox 360 games, simply because of the fact that Microsoft charges virtually no licensing or royalty fees to a third-party who releases a game exclusively for the Xbox 360.
Sony does not offer that kind of benefit to third-party game companies. Many times, the one and only reason why games appeared exclusively on the Playstation 2 was because the Playstation 2 was by far the number one highest selling system last generation, and it simply made sense from a business point of view to develop the game only for the Playstation 2. After all, why develop a game for both the PS2 and the Gamecube when the overwhelming majority of Gamecube owners also own a PS2, but the same cannot be said the other way around.
But this time, the roles are reversed. This time there are far more Xbox 360 owners than Playstation 3 owners. The Xbox 360 remains far easier for developers to develop games for; it is less time consuming and less expensive to work with than the Playstation 3. Microsoft offers third-party licensing and royalty deals that are amazing if a game is released as an exclusive game. (4) We also know that Capcom has had Xbox 360 development kits a lot longer than Playstation 3 development kits.
If the Xbox 360 version of Resident Evil 5 is released first or exclusively, I believe it would be for one of these reasons: (a) Microsoft paid for exclusive or timed exclusive rights. However; situation is not likely, because that situation allows a third-party developer to earn a profit by creating a junk game that doesn't go on to sell well. (b) Microsoft could have given Capcom the standard non-licensing fee benefits of releasing a game exclusively for the Xbox 360. This situation is much more likely, because it gives Capcom amazing financial benefits for releasing the game exclusively for the Xbox 360, and it also motivates Capcom to create a great game, because then they will make more money from the sales.
(c) Capcom has had the development kits for the Xbox 360 so much longer than the PS3 development kits, it is a situation very similar to the Soccer games in Europe: the Xbox 360 2007 version can be released now, but the Xbox 360 and PS3 will both receive 2008 versions later. I don't think this is the case, though, because the Xbox 360 of the 2007 of those Soccer games is not 100% complete with all the stadiums like the 2008 versions will be.
Many soccer fans will appreciate being able to play the Xbox 360 Soccer games in high-definition with 5.1 sound on the Xbox 360, but the developers haven't had time to include all of the stadiums in the game. The developers will not have had enough time to do that for another year when the 2008 versions of those Soccer games are released. In other words, you can get away with releasing a Soccer game a little bit early without some of the less popular stadiums, because it doesn’t affect the gameplay if every single stadium is included in the game; however, a game like Resident Evil 5 cannot be released in that sort of way. Capcom would be better off cancelling the development of Resident Evil 5 for the Playstation 3, so they can concentrate on a potential Resident Evil 6 or some other game.
(5) Another situation that may be happening is exactly what happened with the original Playstation compared to the Sega Saturn. The original Playstation was so much easier to develop games for than the Sega Saturn, many of the games always were released much earlier on the Playstation than the Saturn. One of those games was the original Resident Evil!(6) From a business point of view, it may be in Capcom's best interest to release Resident Evil 5 exclusively for the Xbox 360, simply because the game can be released when Capcom wants it to be released. The Xbox 360 version of the game can include all of the online features that Capcom wants it to, as well.
It does not surprise me that this information would start to circulate, because I have actually read that Grand Theft Auto 4 is no longer a "same day" release for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. One of the Industry Sales Analysts said that Grand Theft Auto 4 would be released at least one month earlier on the Xbox 360, with additional online features not included on the Playstation 3 version.Lost Planet is deliberately being released in Japan first, just so Microsoft will have that game available as an Xbox 360 game in time for Christmas. With Blue Dragon, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Project Sylpheed, demos of Lost Odyssey, and now an exclusive Resident Evil 5, the Xbox 360 would truly be a must-have system in Japan this Christmas.
Heck, now that the Xbox 360 Core system is finally going to be released in Japan, for $249, with Blue Dragon as a pack-in game, with a play-and-charge kit, along with Project Gotham Racing 3 and Ninety-Nine Nights...The Xbox 360 has gathered a lot of excitement with its "relaunch" anyways!I guess we will learn a lot more about this over the next couple days while the Microsoft X06 show is taking place! Microsoft always saves the best for last with these kinds of shows, so I can’t wait for what Microsoft will be showing us at the X06 show!

Asking a top Xbox executive if a third-party title is exclusive is like asking Ken Kutaragi if Assassin's Creed is exclusive. Ill only believe RE5 as a 360 exclusive until Capcom announces it.
oops typo. "if" instead of "until" ;]
ttp://ps3.qj.net/ if you look at the first article at qj. their report from Capcom states that Capcom is still sticking with a multiplatform RE5.
Written by Odins_wrath (214) on 2006/09/27
Capcom never repeats the mistake violated with GC. RE is a multi-platform. OK OK. Let's disappear here and disappear when it is not Xbox360 exclusive use. All your delusions are kept.
