this was a no brainer.. i like sonys attitude in not hyping "exclusive content" like MS does

I also expect some fun mini games with the tilt controller

In many ways, Sony has been better for Rockstar than MS.

Take Bully for example; its a current gen. game that is only viable becuase Sony is still supporting the PS2. Sure, this could be ported for xbox, but, MS has long left that for dead and would never push an xbox game to the extent that Sony would push a PS3.

At this point; its all about 360 for MS.

The only reason SONY is hyping Bully is because they don't have a next gen system out yet. The only wayt they can currently make money through games is the PS2, not becuase they are treating Rockstar so good,etc... MS isn't worried about Bully because they've got a next gen system out and they need to support it 100%. Sony will do the same after the PS3 has been out for a year.

bully IS coming out for the xbox. software sales are still strong on the xbox believe it or not. its smart business to those uninformed. if microsoft was making money off of each box then you would see the same support but microsoft is still losing money off of each xbox sold, do you think sony would support the ps2 if they werent making a profit off of each console sold? your dreaming if you think so.

great news about the content coming to the ps3 though. i think 3rd parties and consumers can both benefit from massive multiplatform support of any kind

Having a commercially successful current gen. system is a GOOD thing (unlike MS and Nintendo) for both Sony and its developers.

Its good to have an overlap between successive generations; otherwise you leave the developers out to hang in the case of MS. Or, in the case of Wii, all the late-cycle current gen. games are cancelled and retooled for the new system; the consumer gets screwed in this case because support for their console was prematurely dropped (they're forced to upgrade).

they where hyping bully just by calling it Bully any marketing team would no this would cause a lot of controversy. you say sony are still supporting the ps2 but the ps3 still isn't out, things will change for the ps2 after the ps3 launch.

I mean, did we think that they were making exclusive content for the 360 out of the graciousness of thier heart? Ms paid money, probably lots of it, just so they could have that to tick on the compare sheet.

Regardless if this is true or not thier decision to make a ps3 version will likely be for the same reason. Sony paid not to lose out on an extra selling point for the ps3 version of GTA 4. Either way, this extra content stuff in the end will turn out to be no more than 10 extra missions.

Kenny K that is partially not true, sure if the xbox was making them money they probably would continue to support it but they ARE telling developers now NOT to make games for the xbox version.

Games that are usually multiplatform are now finding thw xbox version (much like gamecube versions) bieng cancelled, PES6 the game microsoft try make a big deal about no longer has an xbox version, seabass (game developer)said Ms did not want an xbox version anymore.

Sky: Go on any videogame related website and Bully is being hyped. Whether it's for good gameplay, or for controversy, it's being hyped regardless.

Fruity Loops ZX: No one said there was anything wrong with supporting a good console. The fact is that you HAVE to support that console when that's the only thing you have out. Which applies to Sony. In one year from now there won't be big name games coming from square/rockstar,etc... on PS2. They will all be on PS3!

I am fairly sure that the PS2 will be supported for a few more years simply b/c of it's massive installed base. Having tens of millions of consoles in homes worldwide, there is no way the big publishers will stop developing for it. There will be the standard Madden/NBA/NCAA titles and more. So, I disagree.

the uninformed comment of mine was directed towards the "smart business" of microsoft dicontinueing production of the xbox. i think its dumb that microsoft is telling 3rd party not to support the xbox as they still make money off of that but ifs obvious that their focus is on the 360.

I dont have the reference; but, at TGS 06, there were 100+ PS2 games shown as well as 1 PS1 game. There will be PS2 support for some time to come and Sony has mentioned that they want to support PS2 more than PS1 in the last half of its cycle (they only stopped PS1 production this year).

And, Nintendo is always touting the lower cost of development for Wii since it is based so much on GC; well, PS2 is dirt cheap to develop on nowadays. Since theres a huge PS2 installed base and since every PS3 is a PS2, developers can always opt to develop for cheaper PS2. For smaller devs., the return on investment will be much better.

Getting back on point to the exclusive content...

I think this is the future look of "exclusives" for the consoles. Gone will be the days of true 3rd party exclusives but what you will see are things like this. Add-on content exclusiveness. I expect to see much more of this in the future between Sony, MS and Nintendo to a degree. It's a great way for the developers to maximize profits on these games by getting it out to big audiences and then getting the console makers to pony up cash for that little "extra" that only they will have.
