According to EA's Larry Probst, it seems the rumor that Sony only shipped 200k PS3 units is now official. According to Reuters and the EA CEO, Sony met only half its sales goal for the PS3 launch due to the simple fact that there were not enough units to sell. This, of course, is in stark contrast to the Sony claim that 400k units would be available at launch. Then again, most of us who witnessed the utterly disgusting events that surrounded the PS3 launch pretty much knew that the real number was around 200k.

is anyone really surprised? even after cutting europe off of their "worldwide launch" they still barely reach half of their initial goal. great job sony, nice to see your keeping with your low standards.
