EBGames Calls PSP 'The Past', Says DS Lite Is 'The Future' >
2007/02/19 14:33:38: Posted by DM
We would never expect a store to publically badmouth one brand over another since competition means more money, but apparently that is just what EBGames did. In this ad that is floating around the net, they advertise that you can trade in 'the past,' (PSP, old DS, Gameboy SP) for 'the future,' (Nintendo DS Lite). We think Sony may not be too happy about this. Click the link for the ad image. (Thanks, TSE)

Obvliously they are speaking trough the ass , i would love to sue them for those pathetic rants.

Sony psp is so much powefull than the ds graphicaly..nintendo keep making bullshit handlets with a 1001 games of the old mario , WE ARE SICK OF THAT ITALIAN PLUMBER!!!! PERIOD.

anyway vice city stories for the psp rocks.

i wonder where mekie is?lolololololololollolo

Yeah, and a tank is so much more powerful than a mustang. But which one would you rather drive? DS just has games that are more fun to play. I own both and don't even touch the PSP most of the time. When i pick up a handheld I just want a pure and utter fun game to play. There is just a totally different feel between the two handhelds and anyone who has owned both will tell you that.

While do i agree that nintendo been over using the mario image on this last years , i had to say that the ds is far more funny to play than the psp.

***I probably dont play mario since Mario64 , my god time passes eh....and i was only a 9year old kid.
Written by VaeVictus on 2007/02/19

I'm just the opposite. If it weren't for the 2 Castlevania titles and the New Super Mario Bros, I would not have bought the DS lite. I play my PSP much more. It's just in vogue to hate on Sony. The PSP is still much more expensive and doesn't have the name recognition in the handheld market that Nintendo has had and dominated almost exclusively for 20+ years. There are a lot of cool things about the PSP that have yet to be utilized. They should drop the price to $149.99 and keep putting out some high quality titles (Metal Gear Port Ops is awesome) and advertise the machine.

i haven't touched my psp in over a year. got it on launch day. and i'm seriously thinking about trading it in for a ds lite.
Written by VaeVictus on 2007/02/19

If you don't use it, you might as well. It's a difference in tastes completely b/c the games on each handheld are almost nothing alike as far as what is available. There are just so many "kiddy" type games or the Wario ware type games that just don't appeal to me. Now that the PSP is getting a couple of Castlevania's, I can get my 2d fix elsewhere as opposed to having to wait for the DS and not use it.I will likely trade mine in once I've beaten Portrait of Ruin.

i got a psp and sold it within 2 months, the DS is by far my favourite, nearly everyday for the past 2 years i've played mario kart DS multiplayer with friends from college, when you get people who like to play a game for fun and gameplay things just last like with the DS, with PSP the games are great looking but thats about it no great multiplayer games or a single player game that keeps me wanting to play. i guess thats why the DS is selling 2 to 1 in most continents in the world. and techno i'd love to due you for your pathetic rants.

DS 52.94 million PSP 24.70 million.

oh the ds figures are sales where as the PSP are shiped figures.

oops i meant "sue" techno

PSP has yet to reach its potential. I have to say DS is more suitable for a handheld experience, great for portable gaming. A lot of people wanted a second analog stick on the next psp, i say it would encourage more ports, and not necessary a good thing. They should really make a touch screen, I know it's copying but it beats having too many ports.
Written by NUTTSACK on 2007/02/19

Hey the PSP is the more powerful hardware. However the DS has the dual screens and the the option to use the stylus with the touch screen. It is a matter of preference. But the PSP is a little pricey for handheld gaming it launched at $249.00 and still retails for $199.00 (Core) - $249.00 (Bundle) to this day. Where as the DS Lite is $129.00. Thats where Sony keeps F*CKING up. Make a machine that concentrates on games, not all these other needless features. Make it more affordable. People have IPOD's for music playback. Who wants to watch a movie on such a small screen? I surf the internet on my PC. If I wanted to play PS2 games, I would play them on my PS2 and 65" big screen, stop all the damn ports and make some original fun games for the PSP already. Thats why the DS is kicking the PSP's A$$. Nintendo gets it, Sony doesnt. Please Sony get back to "GAMES"!!!!!

U ARE A SO POOR ,DONT HAVE $249? LOLLL I GUESS U STIL PLAYING IN THAT OLD BRICK GAMEBOY.

Oh look Techno_B!TCH is at it again. Poor Geek Boy. U take it so personally anytime someone speaks their opinion about Sony. Heaven forbid someone says anything that doesnt kiss up to Sony. U are so fake with your BS XBOX logo. We all know U smoke Ken Kutaragi's POLE!!!!!

i agree with vae, it is definitely taste, Sony def. has a problem with cost, i mean the bundle psp cost the same amount as a wii! although this ad at the most implies that the psp is junk, but doesn't say so directly. IMHO, i play handhelds for different reasons than consoles, so really i don't want a handheld console. however i hardly play my ds because everytime i want to get a game, a game comes out on my console that i rather have.

Techno, you offend me with that "poor" nonsense. not everyone can have all 3 consoles, both handhelds and at least 5 games for each of those items. I can't. I don't care what you say about anything else, but being "poor is never a good thing to say. Thanks.

better putting back the image of the sony old man holding his PS3.

suits you best.

Also the old brick game boy , is one of the most sussefuls handlets ever....sometime is still kick some metroid in it.
Written by Nemesis IX on 2007/02/20

i don't know if the psp has peeked but there is only enough people can take of bad game with bad controls, i know a good few people thinking whether to trade in there psp for a DS lite even though they already have a DS, and its not just that the Lite is the collest looking piece of technology ever but that they would rather have two DS's that one PSP.

i've heard a good few people who are saying there getting sick of the Mario and Pokemon but if you look at there sales there rest of the world doesn't agree with you, plus if you compare mario sales with GTA sales i think it is GTA people are getting bored with.
Written by LiK on 2007/02/20

hehe, maybe Sony should juss pull all their stuff out of EB. then we'll see whether EB will eat their words. no GoW2 for them.

The retail professionals at EBGames are 100% correct when they say that the PSP is the past and the DS is the future. The fact that the DS has dual screens is a way that shows how the future of handheld gaming involves different types of new gameplay that the PSP can't match. The PSP was designed in a way that it should be able to have first-person shooters, but it doesn't even have dual analog sticks needed to make it so those games are fun to play. So, all of the first-person and third-person games end up being less playable on the PSP. Those sorts of games aren't even attempted most of the time on the DS, because the DS concentrates on the types of games that it is good at playing.

The simple fact of the matter is that even Larry Probst of EA has said that they support the DS much more than the PSP, simply because they now see that people value high-quality games more than anything else. He said that it is now clear more than ever that games, not graphics are the most important thing to gamers. This is obviously the reason why the standard-definition Wii is outselling the Playstation 3 by such a large margin.
Written by VaeVictus on 2007/02/21

Fact. Opinion. Two different words with two different definitions. You should really look it up.

Madden on the DS is laughable.

utp: psp is soo much better... ds = gameboy
Written by Unbiased Technology Professor on 2007/02/26

jockss2: psp is soo much of a business failure...ds = business success, just like gameboy

EBGames is one of the most important videogame retailers in the world, and they say so!

And EA is the biggest third-party company in the world, and they say so!

NUFF SAID!!!
