Our friend Seth over at the NYT Technology division has the partial scoop on the new Sony HOME service for the PS3. This new network system for Sony's console will feature more services to compete with Xbox Live, like persistent online identities, and achievement type accolades. We will get the full scoop when Phil Harrison speaks today at the GDC, but for now, it sounds pretty encouraging.

By Sony improving their service will continue to put the heat on MS to stay ahead. God Bless the 360.

Response to Fiery Food Dude:

Good point, my friend...good point.

Just because Microsoft has a huge lead over Sony doesn't mean they can just start to get all arrogant like Sony did. That, as we have seen, is how you end up losing the top spot and ending up in a distant third, like Sony did.

Xbox 360 definitely seems to still have the Eye of the Tiger stronger than ever. Look at the way the Xbox 360 will be working with IPTV later this year, in addition to the way the movie downloads and TV downloads with Xbox Live are always expanding.

I have ordered EVERY episode of Star Trek Enterprise in high-definition on Xbox Live, and it is AWESOME!!!

That is one reason why I think things like Blu-ray and HD-DVD never really stood a chance this era...everything is based around fiber optics, and it is continuing to grow in that area at such an alarmingly fast rate, for such a low price.

Chances are, if they can deliver on what these updates are rumored to be, they could equal and/or surpass XBL in features. More importantly, "Home" will still be a free service. It took them long enough, but Sony may finally be seeing the light. I like the direction they are heading in with this service.

Rumble in the immediate future. Better online service. Much better games available beginning today. They've opened their ears finally.

Oh my god. Shut it UBT. If you want to kiss Microsoft's arse, do it elsewhere.
