PS3 Version Of The Darkness Delayed Until July >
2007/06/25 13:17:16: Posted by DM
The PS3 version of The Darkness has been delayed until July, according to 2K. The Xbox360 version is still on target for this week, though, so those who cannot wait must purchase the Xbox360 edition. THis game should be great, it is being developed by the same people who did Chronicles of Riddick for Xbox, Starbreeze.

I was excited about this game until i seen you use some kind of creature to walk on walls and stuff. It still looks like it's gonna be a great game for the right people.... Just not my type of game. PS3 gets the shaft again ? LOL.

I can't wait to agree with what Unbiased has to say. He's always so spot on with his assessments. Too bad it's only Sony gamers in the EU. When will everyone else learn that Monopolie$ are what's good for gamers? Microsoft all the way.

Hehe @ jetre.

I seriously do not think this is a MUST-HAVE game. It's decent enough, but you can only buy one or two game this summer, wait a bit more :)

The Xbox 360 and the Wii are both doing fine in the world of videogames. Xbox 360 and Wii are competitors that are both doing very well in the industry. As a result, it is safe to say there will not be a monopoly anytime soon.

Although, it may not be a bad thing if there was, because many people consider the era of Nintendo’s 8-bit gaming system from the 1980’s to be one of the golden era’s in videogame history.

The Playstation 3 is obviously doing very poorly in a variety of ways: PS3 sells poorly all over the world and PS3 receives the least amount of third-party support from game developers. The majority of videogame developers believe the PS3 is the most difficult game system to program games for. This is confirmed due to the fact that the PS3 is the most time consuming system to develop games for, and therefore the most expensive game system to develop games for.

Nevertheless, Microsoft won't end up with a videogame "monopoly" any time soon, because of the success of the Wii. As long as there are at least two strong competitors in the industry, there is no monopoly at all.

But, the Playstation 3 likely will be left behind in a way that makes it seem like Microsoft has gained a monopolistic advantage over what some people refer to as its direct-competitor. However, if the Playstation 3 is left behind in the videogame industry, it isn't just because of the positive high-quality actions of Microsoft with the Xbox 360. The negative actions, which can actually be referred to as mistakes, are what caused the Playstation 3 to fail.

When a competitor is eliminated from the market like that, it is an example of the philosophy of "Survival of the Fittest," coming into effect and allowing us to see that the Playstation 3 was not "fit" enough to exist in today's videogame market. When an inferior product is removed from the market, it actually IS a benefit to consumers.

For example, if Sony left the videogame hardware industry like Sega did, and then started releasing games for the Xbox 360 and Wii, the games would obviously improve in many ways. Online support would be much better in Xbox 360 versions of games released by Sony. Consumers would be much happier if they could use those games to earn Achievements that add cumulative points to their Xbox Live Gamerscore. And most of the time the graphics and artificial intelligence would be better in the Xbox 360 versions of the software. People would get to play the games sooner, too, because the Xbox 360 is easier to develop games for.

The delay of the PS3 version of the new game called, "The Darkness," is a perfect example that the Playstation 3 doesn't have what it takes to survive in the current generation of videogames. The Playstation 3 is too difficult, too expensive, and too time consuming for developers to work with. As a result, the Playstation 3 often ends up with software that is delayed, and software versions that offer considerably less quality than the Xbox 360 versions.

Monopolies are not good in any form of economic industry, not even the videogame industry...although, many people actually did like the monopoly era of the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System in the 1980’s. The elimination of the Playstation 3 from the videogame industry will actually be a good thing, because it will give more retail shelf space to other competitors that do a better job of effectively releasing games in ways that please consumers. Thanks to the sales success of both the Xbox 360 and the Wii, gamers do not have to worry about the videogame industry being in a monopoly situation.

By the way, 1up has already reviewed The Darkness, and it received a very high score of 9 out of 10. So, this is definitely a game that all of us should look at!

I will be getting The Darkness for my Xbox 360.

Let's be honest; nobody is going to be considered biased because they want to buy a game when it is first released! Only a fool would want to wait for the PS3 version, especially when you consider that only the Xbox 360 version includes rumble and vibration in the controller, and only the Xbox 360 version adds Achievements to my Gamerscore!

C'mon, even if there was no delay, it would still make a lot more sense to buy the Xbox 360 version.

I knew Starbreeze can produce another hit after Riddick. I hope more great reviews come through.

Is it me or does anybody else ever feel like shooting them self after accidentally reading UTP's whole post? Lets just hope the game is not delayed for 6 months
Written by sicbud on 2007/06/25

so I'm confused.. how come my PS3 version of the game has been shipped? and should be here tomorrow? I have the tracking number and everything. So I dont' really see how the game is delayed until july.
Written by steve_o_3000 on 2007/06/25

I think it's just the Euro version.
Written by sicbud on 2007/06/25

Yeah it is just the Euro version.. wow, this site is misleading yet again.

Jesus Christ UTP, thats 625 words!!!, Thanks for doing my English homework for me.

Everyone is right; it is just the European version of The Darkness that is delayed for the PS3.

I do have to agree with the people who said that the Xbox 360 version is still the better version, because it has the rumble and vibration in the controller.

I agree with that new PS3 song, "no frikkin games," that says, "PS3 games feel so lame and fake, because the controller doesn't shake."

I'll be honest, even if both versions had rumble in the controller I would still get the Xbox 360 version just so I can get Achievements that I can brag about! That's one of the main reasons why I decided to get a 360.
Written by jb33 on 2007/06/25

^^^^ WOW UTP !!!! Way to work three of your alter egos into one topic...LOL. We all get it... The 360 is your favorite system. Do yourself and all of us a favor and get a life and maybe a psychiatrist.
Written by sicbud on 2007/06/25

hello UTP I mean x of 360.. its pretty sad when you have to create multiple accounts to praise your love for the xbox360.

I just received my copy of the darkness for the PS3 and let me tell you, its awesome! I love the free multiplayer as well. Anyone who owns an Xbox360 or PS3 should really pick up this game! It's great for both consoles.

I didn't really miss the rumble in the controller for this game, but that's how i feel about most games without the vibration. no big deal.

And if the main reason you really bought your 360 is for the achievements then you are even a bigger idiot than i thought.

ROFL. Unlimited Toliet Paper is too much. Has anybody seen the PS3 review yet??? I want to see how it stacks up to the 360 version...
Written by jb33 on 2007/06/25

NUTTSACK ....1up has it and scored both versions 9/10... I didn't read the review to see what the differences are if any. The PS3 version should get at least 1 point lower 8.9 for not having rumble IMO. UTP and his twenty alter egos will probably love that last comment...LOL.

Written by sicbud on 2007/06/25

and the ps3 version should gain one point for having FREE online. you can't really give a game review a lower score just because the console it's on doesn't have rumble...
Written by NUTTSACK on 2007/06/25

Free and good are 2 different things Sicbud. I guess I will read the reviews now to see how they compared...
Written by jb33 on 2007/06/26

sicbud) Why can't you ? There are plenty of games for the PS3 that got lower scores because of lack of rumble and no online combined. Any feature that makes a game experience better or worse should always be noted in a review right ? Rumble is a huge feature that almost always makes a game experiences better.

Lack of rumble isn't gonna make me not want to play my PS3 though. Free online has NOTHING to do with scoring a review...Rumble is a serious feature that is missed dearly by PS3 owners. If i was to buy this game it would be for the 360 because of rumble and the online service is WAY better.

People on this site are so defensive... Whenever someone posts any negative comment for the PS3 people start rioting...LOL. Take it easy... I like the PS3 as much as anyone.
