A new Rare scribe was posted today, and the company pretty much brought the hammer down on the rumor mongers. Rare revealed that they are not working on a new Jet Force Gemini or Mr. Pants game, but more importantly, Rare put the kaibosh on the Killer Instinct 3 rumor mill. Sorry KI fans, the denial sounds genuine."Purely out of contractual obligation, no, we're not working on KI3..."At this time, it is safe to say that Rare has no plans for a new KI game. In fact, Rare goes on to say that until more work is done on Banjo Threeie, there will not be much info released on any other new Rare titles. Just have to wait I suppose, but we are sure Rare has something interesting up their sleeves. Stay tuned.

Yay! I feel like buying a 360 and throw it at their building's window! LITERALLY. Since Microsoft bought RARE all I hoped for was KI2 remake, KI3 or a new blast corps. Now upon the fact of their denial regarding KI3, well whats RARE good for? Nothing anymore.... Goodbye RARE

If PDZ was any indication of the quality of what a new KI game would have been, then I'm glad they aren't making KI3.However a KI3 would have made owning an Xbox360 worth a million bucks :)

Rare is no longer the studio it used to be. They're nothing now. Money well wasted, MS.

I liked Kameo. It wasn't the greatest game in the world, but it pretty fun. PDZ was f'ing terrible though. Viva Pinata is a very underrated game too, IMO. I still through that one in from time to time. I just hope they put the original Perfect Dark in the Live Arcade with online co-op and 16-player vs. mode. I'm sure Banjo will be pretty good, but I really think Rare's best days are behind them.

I think we can stop dreaming of potential games coming to xbox live, i done that already with Virtual Connectionlots of freaking laughsAnd even if it does come, how long do we have to wait?

Rare is one of the BEST gaming companies in the world! If you want to see some proof how awesome Rare is when it comes to new types of cool gameplay, all you need to do is look at Viva Piniata! Just look at all the Awards Viva Piniata won for innovative gameplay!purbeast, I would first like to mention that I thought both Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero were great games. Let's not forget that Perfect Dark Zero received the Editor's Choice award from Gamespot. That's something Resistance: Fall of Man and Motorstorm weren’t able to do.

If you want to be 100% realistic, look how PDZ and Kameo were made on those pre-alpha development kits. For the sake of the good lord, consider how Perfect Dark Zero started development on the Gamecube, and then was switched to the original Xbox, and then ended up on the Xbox 360 using pre-alpha development kits that only allowed one-sixth of the General Purpose CPU power to be used.
Rare is an awesome videogame company; that's why Microsoft paid so much money for them. Perfect Dark Zero was just in a tough development situation that kept on changing, and very few games in history have had to go through that type of severe development problem. Perfect Dark Zero still has better online features than anything on the PS3. What would you rather have (A) No Online Campaign mode in Resistance: FOM, (B) An awesome Online Campaign Mode in Perfect Dark Zero.I think the answer speaks for itself.

I've done my homework boy & girls, and I know the facts. Just because the original founders of the company, the Stamper brothers, sold their shares to Microsoft and don't play a role in the company anymore doesn't mean anything at all. Most of the actual programmers who played a key role in development are still employed by Rare! The only thing that's different is that their paychecks have a different logo at the bottom! The articles people read about how the Stamper brothers just gathered up employees from Rare who quit their job, just to leave with the Stamper brothers are 100% false! If that were true, we would have seen games by now! There is a BIG difference between all of the personal secretaries of the Stamper brothers leaving with them (which really did happen), and the key programmers who are under contracts to stay with the company and complete projects.

Rare used to be innovative: RC PRo AM, Cobra Triangle, Battletoads, Golden Eye, Conker, Killer Instinct, Perfect Dark, etc... now they are a bit player in a field with LOTS of good developers. They are nothing and have no prospects at all.

Smarty Pants, each of the games you mention could be released on Xbox Live. All of those Intellectual Proper franchises are some of the main reasons why Microsoft bought Rare. Being able to make a cool new racing game and simply put the name R.C. Pro-Am on it is a great marketing advantage.I really loved Battletoads, and there are lots of rumors we will see that one shortly on Xbox 360. I hope we do.
Rare didn't deny the rumor that Perfect Dark 2 is on the way. When we see Perfect Dark 2, it will be the true sequel to the awesome Perfect Dark game. Perfect Dark 2 is going to pick up on the momentum of Viva Piniata. PD2 will be made entirely for the Xbox 360 hardware using finished development kits, and it will be amazing! When I read Perfect Dark 2 was in development, it motivated me to get an Xbox 360 even more.Viva Piniata is a great game, and Rare is currently living in a great time. Rare's best days are ahead of them, because their new games will be even better!

Dammit I wanted some Killer Instinct. Rare disappoints me. Although for the record my kids and I did like Viva Pinata quite a bit...

awww I wanted KI3, why don't these fucks just give us what we want?
Written by blacktiger on 2007/06/26
Industry_InsiderYour Wrong,Your right about the brothers left as soon as the contract ended, cause they couldnt make a great games with microsoft like they did with NINTENDO !But when they were bought off, there were aout 25 best empoyee left, and one of them was a legend who made goldeneye, thats why you will never see the old rare again, cause 25 plus 2 with stampede brothers has left, and now rare is just another third party style with exclusive titles !you may not belive me about third party style but thats the truth, i mean you may say its fun and great, but is it fun like back in the days ?300 million dollar was just for a name !
Written by Fishcake21 on 2007/06/26
I guess you 2 dummies forgot about those guys who like left rare, they developed a nice engine that goldeneye uses, something that like 90 percent of other rare devs still can't match upThose guys are still around, they did Time killers!
And something else that is very underated and probably nobody heard of, but its a kick ass FpsProbably you 2 dummies won't figure that one out
Written by arthur56k on 2007/06/27
no one ever admits what they are working on, how many developers have you seen deny stuff only for them to go on and admit several months later that they were working on it and its pretty far along? these guys know what the title holds, it will be a suprise if they arent working on something big
