	The rumors are true, Gears Of War is coming to the PC, and it is now official. The game will feature all new content, a game editor, and using Windows Live, it will be jsut as connected as the Xbox360 version. The game will even have 5 new single player chapters. Play again on PC anyone? The best news? It is for both XP and Vista, no more Shadowrun blues!

Gears of War has sold 4 million copies on the Xbox 360. When you consider the fact that there are that many fans, it makes sense to release this Gears of War software program on the PC, because it will actually help the Xbox 360 version.

Epic has already said in an interview with 1up that this PC version of Gears of War will give people the ability to design their own maps, and their own levels! Features like that based on the creation of new maps and new level design represent the sort of things that are really meant for hardcore PC gamers using keyboards and a mouse while sitting at a desk.

Epic has already confirmed that the really nicely designed maps and levels that gamers design on the PC will end up as downloadable content on the Xbox 360 that will either be free or priced as low as $3, because there would have been virtually no business cost in designing them. Epic said that both Microsoft and Epic would make money on that sort of business model, and they would also give some of the money back to the original people who created those successful maps and levels.

It was really cool listening to Epic talk about this, because they said that after Gears of War has been released on PC, there will be so many maps designed each month that there likely will be a point reached where Xbox 360 owners of Gears of War will end up with the 10 best maps each month for either a free cost or a cost as little as $3. That is REALLY cool!!!

The fact that there are some new levels in the PC version of Gears of War, particularly with that AWESOME looking boss, makes it so some Gears of War fans will buy the PC version. The PC and Xbox 360 are so similar; it must have cost virtually nothing to port Gears of War to the PC. Being able to sell hundreds of thousands or perhaps millions of copies of a game a second time is really quite an achievement from a business perspective, but we all know that there are hardcore Gears of War fans who will buy it a second time, just like with Halo and Halo 2.

I just hope those PC gamers are the sort of people who are willing to create new levels and new maps! Epic will be watching, and filtering out the good maps from the bad ones. Xbox 360 owners will end up being able to play the best maps people invent. That is cool!

The good thing is that PC games usually cost quite a bit less than console games. The bad thing is that if you want to have graphics similar to the Xbox 360, you really are going to have to buy a graphics card that costs as much as the Xbox 360, or more if you want impressive graphics; although, Epic makes it clear that Gears of War will still be compatible with Windows Vista, even if you have an older PC. There are 10 million Windows Vista owners, and a lot of them do have those graphics cards, though. So, they will probably be happy about this news.

I know I would NEVER trade the last year of SUPER FUN that I had with Gears of War on the Xbox 360!!! For that entire length of time, the Xbox 360 fans have been able to say, "We have the BEST game on any system!"

This fall, I think I will be playing Mass Effect and Halo 3 more than anything, but I will be looking forward to a large quantity of inexpensive or free maps made from intelligent Gears of War fans using a PC.
