Uncharted PS3 Interview, Single Player 10-12 Hours, More >
2007/10/30 14:43:26: Posted by DM
PALGN spoke with Evan Wells recently, the co-president of Naughty Dog. Their latest PS3 adventure, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, just went gold, and should hit stores within the month. The game looks beautiful, and now that its complete, he even speaks a bit about the game we all really want to hear about - the new Jak! All in all, it is a fantastic interview.

PALGN: The story is a little bit different with Jak though as Sony own the IP, do you want to continue the Jak franchise?

EW: Yes, it's certainly something that a lot of Naughty Dog staff still feel very passionate about. We were sort of getting creatively tapped out. We spent our last five years on the franchise and we definitely needed this break. But I fully expect we'll be doing some Jak and Daxter in the future, I don't know when but yeah.

Uncharted is a game that Playstation 3 owners probably won't want to buy, because they won't be interested in it...after all, Playstation 3 owners have repeatedly said that they don't like games that can be beaten in 10 hours.

Clearly, Uncharted is worth a rental, but it's definitely not worth spending $60 on.

After all, Uncharted is a game that does NOT have a lot replay value, like games such as Gears of War and Halo 3 do...because Halo 3 and Gears of War have Multi-player and Online Co-Op modes, and Online Versus modes...Games like Halo 3 and Gears of War have an infinite amount of replay value because of that fact.

The major problem for Uncharted that makes it not worth buying is the lack of replay value...that's why it is only worth a rental.

24GB, that is what the game weighs in at, and only 12 hrs tops of gameplay time,

Uncharted looks it falls into the 'Can only be done on PS3 just because we say so' category. Heavenly Sword fell into this category, and well, I don't need to tell what happened.

Uncharted looks as if Lara Croft went for training with Marcus Fenix and ended up with her boobs going down south (if you know what I mean).

Response to blacktiger:

The HUGE difference between Gears of War and Uncharted is something called "Replay Value."

Gears of War has INFINITE Replay Value.

Uncharted has very little Replay Value.

The single player modes of both Uncharted and Gears of War game can be beaten in as little as 10 hours.

HOWEVER, Gears of War has an INFINITE amount of "Replay Value," because you can go back and play the game in Multi-Player and Online Co-Op modes.

Gears of War also offers Online action where players play With and/or Against each other...That is what makes it so Gears of War has unlimited "Replay Value."

Uncharted is apparently not a game that PS3 owners will want to "buy," because it can be beaten in as little as 10 hours, and it has absolutely no replay value, since there is no form of multi-player or online gameplay included. Uncharted on the PS3 is a game that should be "rented" but definitely not bought, because that is a waste of $60.

Half-Life on the Xbox 360 was rated incredibly high because it is such a great value...but Uncharted is the opposite; it is a very poor value. If that is taken into consideration, I think Uncharted will likely be rated very poorly in a lot of reviews.

* When I said "Half-Life," I was referring to the Orange Box package of five games on Xbox 360.

Lets just see if people actually buy it. PS3 owners buy movies remember??? Although Ratchet and Clank sold 97,000 it's first week in the US. Thats kinda sad PS3 owners.
