Dust Voids PS3 Warranty? >
2007/11/11 11:59:55: Posted by DM
According to the Consumerist, the folks over at Sony are now voiding warrantys due to "dust." One irate consumer setn in his PS3 for repair, it was still under warranty, and was told, after 5 days, that there was too much dust in the unit and the warranty would not cover it. The consumer then asked for the pictures that Sony supposedly took, and was told the images were Sony's property, and he would have to subpoena the company to obtain them. Sony is really not winning the hearts and minds of the people with this kind of customer service.

lol I love how this site is constantly bashing the ps3. I for one know this is not true and complete bullshit.

use a gas station car vacuum or a dyson on the vents, and send it back

you know for a fact that it isn't bs sicbud? and how is that?

i believe its bs but i don't know for a fact, it just seems ludicrous that a company would say something like that.

i want proof!

Response to daveydz3:

I agree with you that it is interesting the way that "sicbud" claims to know this is not true, especially with all of the problems that Sony has been experiencing with the Playstation 3 Warranty in places like Taiwan, and other foreign countries (and the United States).

sicbud, no offense, but I sure am glad that you didn't play the role of Fox Mulder in the X-Files, because those would have been short episodes every week...you would have just told the Cigarette smoking guy, "I know this is true!" and then he would have been forced to reveal all the secrets. lol

I think this person is telling the truth, because I know from experience with both the PS3, and televisions from the past that Sony will do their best to try and give you the runaround when it comes to replacing a defective product that is still under warranty.

Yeah, I think this is false to... The only reason I could see Sony voiding for dust, unless they opened it and there was thick sheet of dust on the circuit board. If that was the case, I would have voided the warranty to. The PS3 isn’t cheap, so why not take care of it, but I sill think this is false.

After reading this entire article, and seeing what was said on the news, I can now say 100% that I FULLY BELEIVE what this person is saying about Sony not honoring the Warranty.

The reason why I say that is because this person CLEARLY gives the Names of People, Names of Supervisors, Extension Lines, Identification Numbers, and other forms of 100% PROOF that PROVE what he is saying is true!

Sony is screwing over Playstation 3 owners again by coming up with lame excuses for not honoring the Warranty!

sicbud, this was a link from another site, the guy did claim it, it may be true, it may not be true, but its not GR's problem, its news either way, get with it and stop being a troll.

and dude, i think this was debunked earlier today

and after reading the entire article

i think krogan is telling a false article since he is also a ps3 hater...

hmm i wonder what else he has in his mind !
Written by sicbud on 2007/11/12

I know because I sent mine back because so much dust was inside that the fan stopped spinning. When sony fixed the console they did call me and told me to start using canned air.. but they never even mentioned that it wasn't covered under their warranty.

Response to sicbud:

You are another person on this website who has been forced to send their Playstation 3 to Sony for repair. Now we are starting to see more and more people with PS3 problems.

Response to blacktiger:

If I am a "PS3 Hater," then it should be noted that I am standing alongside TIME Magazine and USA Today, because they voted the Playstation 3 "The Biggest Disappointment of the Year."

so 1 more person sends in a PS3 repair and all of a sudden its "more and more"? less then 1% is still alot of consoles, which is around 50,000 consoles. so far only two people on this site has reported having bad PS3's but tons of people on this site(including myself) has reported either having a 360 that has had the RROD, and other various problems with their 360's. some have even gone through more then one console. so if you can say one more person was "forced" to send in a PS3 for repair, anyone and there moms can say that millions were "forced" to send in their 360's for repairs.
