	Insomniac Games said a while back that it was "flattered" that the spherical worlds of Mario Galaxy were inspired by Ratchet and Clank. Well, apparently Miyamoto-san says hes "never heard of it," when referring to the Insomniac game. In an interview with the Official Nintendo Magazine UK, when asked what he thought about the Ratchet comment, he responded "is it a PC game?" Where this rumor got started is anyone's guess, but we doubt Miyamoto has it in him to lie. >Link

I believe him. Ratchet & Clank isn't anything special that would have gotten the attention of hardcore gamers. The only reason games in the Ratchel & Clank series sold well on the PS2 was because (1) They were low priced (2) There were 110 million PS2 systems sold, which mean that it was very easy to find a market of younger gamers who got the system at the price of $129.

With the PS3, kids can't afford $599 or $499 systems (te $399 PS3 doesn't play PS2 games, and it lacks some of the features of the $499 version).

Consequently, as we saw with the release of Ratchet & Clank for the Playstation 3, the game did not sell well. The reason for that is because the target market of kids was not there.

I love both the Xbox 360 and the Wii...and I don't have a problem saying that I enjoyed my PS2 for quite a few years, which shows that I'm not biased against any of Sony's videogame hardware.

My problem is with the PS3.

Playstation 3 is BY FAR the BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT in the history of videogaming.



All you need to do is look at the poor sales of the Playstation 3, the poor reviews of PS3 games, the high prices of the PS3 and PS3 games, the lack of features associated with the Playstation 3, and you will easily see that the Playstation 3 truly is just as disappointing as everyone says it is.



Consider these comparison facts:

(1) TIME Magazine recently voted Halo 3 as "The Best Game of the Year."

(2) TIME Magazine and USA Today voted Playstation 3 as "The Biggest Disappointment of the Year."



*** Clearly, I am in agreement with the overwhelming majority of fans in the industry when I say that the Xbox 360 and Wii are FAR superior to the Playstation 3!

Xbox 360 is superior to the Playstation 3 in terms of direct-comparison hardware and software performance, and direct comparison online/offline performance.

The Wii does not compete directly with the other systems; it is priced lower and is based on a completely different form of gameplay that targets different markets with lower prices.

Nevertheless, this "hardware generation" has been known all along as the generation of the "XboxWii60."

The fact that there are magazines dedicated entirely to the Xbox 360 and the Wii, but NOT the Playstation 3, PROVES that we are living in the era of the XboxWii60.

ok for fact. Mario galaxy on paper was designed over 8 years ago with the newest R&C only 3 years ago, so obviously Nintendo didn't steal that idea, And if you actually read the interview you can see Miyamoto is sort of joking when he said that he did'nt know anything about R&C.

I think my version is a bit easier to read than krogans.

I've been enjoying my PS3 lately with the release of R&C and Drake's Fortune... but for the most part, I've been disappointed with the performance of the PS3. If a game is cross-platform, I buy it for the 360. I do enjoy playing my older PS2 games on the PS3. Sony taking out BC was a big mistake IMO.

I agree with you that it was a big mistake for Sony to remove the backward compatibility from the Playstation 3.

I also agree with you that the multi-platform games are better for the Xbox 360...and the gap in quality continues to widen--in favor of the Xbox 360.

For example, the newest game to suffer this fate was Orange Box.



Orange Box with the Half-Life games was great on the Xbox 360 and PC. It was considered for Game of the Year on those platforms.

However, Orange Box on the Playstation 3 is a BIG disappointment!!!

Things that literally take three seconds to load on the Xbox 360 version take up to seventeen seconds on the Playstation 3 version!

As usual, the framerate is so terrible in the Playstation 3 version of Orange Box that it becomes virtually unplayable at times.

I think its kind of arrogant of insomniac games to say what they did. Miyamoto was just bringing them back down to earth by denying them any satisfaction as far as im concerned.

Controller?

The Xbox 360 controller is considered the highest quality console controller ever created. Even the Independent Playstation Magazine that rated controllers gave the Xbox 360 controller a grade of an "A" and called it the best controller ever made.

Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 controller received complaints about the D-pad in regards to complex circular motions seen in Street Fighter 2. However, when it comes to games like Virtua Fighter and Mortal Kombat, the D-Pads of those controllers work fine.



FACT: The #1 controller complaint people have been talking about lately has been with the Playstation 3, and the FACT that it is NOT as good as the Xbox 360 controller when it comes to playing 1st/3rd Person Shooters.

The reason for that is because the analog Trigger buttons of the PS3 controller are not nearly as good as the Xbox 360 analog Triggers. Also, the placement of the Analog sticks is better on the Xbox 360 controller.

Yes...I AM the guy who said that Sony was forced to honor the Warranties in countries such as Taiwan...Those governments FORCED Sony to honor the Warranties, because Sony did NOT want to honor them or acknowledge that there were a LOT of defective Playstation 3 systems in those markets.

Well, those were just a fraction of some of the other legal problems and consumer complaints Best Buy is having with customers. Just go to the Better Business Bureau website and see fore yourself...there are over 12,000 complaints against Best Buy in just the last three years!

Now, seeing as how I have made it 100% clear from both personal experience and legal documentation that Best Buy is NOT a place consumers should shop. Best Buy has a LOT of problems with Warranties/Exchange/Return policies, since the receipt says Best Buy Management can "use their discretion to refuse to honor any of them." The problem is that Best Buy management OFTEN refuses to honor Warranties/Return/Exchanges, some of which cost hundreds of dollars!

WTF are you spouting on about Best Buy for? Nobody even mentioned BB in this thread. Did you take your medicine today?

Also, while the 360 controller is my controller of choice (triggers and analog stick placement are the best choice right now, imo), to say the d-pad works fine is definitely not true. I went through 6 controllers in the first week of having my 360 before I found one that the d-pad would work properly *most* of the time.

And to call the PS3 a defective system, while spouting praises of the 360 is just ridiculous. There have been isolated incidents of PS3's breaking (hell, mine needed to be sent in for repair) but it's a widely acknowledged fact that the 360 has the highest hardware failure rate of any console released in the last 10 years. You're certainly entitled to your opinion on the best system out there (and at this point I'd agree with you that 360 is the best right now, it gets more play than my Wii and PS3 combined), it is still just opinion. Stop spouting things as fact.

I agree with you that the Xbox 360 controller is the best one currently available, and I agree with you that the Xbox 360 is the best system currently available.

I also had a defective controller with my original purchase of the Xbox 360. Microsoft has actually made improvements to the 8-way D-Pad over the course of time. It is much more responsive than it used to be. Originally, I needed to PUSH hard to get it to move. Thankfully, Microsoft listened to consumers and corrected that problem. For example, I bought a couple of the Halo 3 controllers, and they work GREAT with Virtua Fighter 5, Mortal Kombat 3, and Street Fighter 2. Even complex moves like Wolf Hawkfields "Giant Swing" and Zangief's Spinning Piledriver work great with the Halo 3 controllers. But in all honesty, those types of games are meant to be played with joystick controllers anyways.

I don't know what some of you guys are smoking...well i know what krogan is smoking(CRACK). While i agree that Miyamoto wouldn't steal ideas. Insomniac Games did do it first(and they did it well), and if this was the other way around you'd all say they stole it from Nintendo, stop holding Nintendo to this untouchable standard like they do no wrong...Virtual Boy anyone...anyone...
