	SCEA has officially announced the details of a new PS3 bundle, a new red PSP bundle, and the US date for the Dual Shock 3 pad. The DS3 will be available in the North America in April for $54.95. The exact same price many of us paid to import it. Wow. The new PS3 bundle will include the DS3 controller and MGS4 for $499 USD in late Q2 2008. The LE God Of War PSP pack will sell for $199.99, and will include God of War: Chains of Olympus and a "deep red" color PSP Slim. Sounds hot. GoW PSP is scheduled for release on March 4, 2008. Sounds like Sony is finally starting to pick up the pace. Good to hear, we are sure winning the HD format war has reinvigorated them. >Link

DS3+MGS4+PS3 only $499 sounds like a good deal to me... but which ver console? prolly 40gb seeing that it appears the 80GB is fading away i guess...

80GB is not fading away. They are rebundling it with MGS4 and the DS3 for $499.00 It's basically the same package as now only substitute Motorstrom for MGS4 and the 6-Axis for DS3. I still think $499.00 is too expensive for a console. Only time will tell. I am pretty sure Sony loses less money on the 80GB SKU vs the 40GB SKU. That has to be the biggest reason they are bundling like this. Plus this bundle proves to me that Sony did in fact pay for exclusive rights to MGS4. What did Sony's PR say not too long ago??? We dont pay for exclusives unlike our competitors. Thought so.

Buying a PS3 now is a stupid thing; it is a waste of money.

The Playstation 3 controllers do NOT rumble, so there is no reason to waste that $50.

Even in June, the Dual-Shock 3 has a weird price of $54...that is Sony "political pricing" which means, "We want to sell it for $49, so we will raise the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price to $54; that way we can say it is 'on sale' for $49."



Also, just because MGS4 is a pack-in game, and just because Sony announced it does NOT mean the game is an "exclusive" game.

Remember, Gamers Reports made a big deal out of it when Sony said that Devil May Cry 4 would be packed in with the PS3 in Japan, because Sony announced it.

But a few days later, Microsoft pointed out that Devil May Cry 4 will ALSO be packed in with the Xbox 360 in Japan.



I agree with PimpDaddy; $499 is WAAAAY too expensive to have much of an impact. Any hardcore gamer interested in the MGS series has already bought a PS3.

Plus, we need to remember that Metal Gear Solid 3 was not nearly as successful as MGS1 or MGS2 (which also appeared on the Xbox).

Considering that MGS4 changes the character and storyline quite a bit, it is a BIG risk...it could easily end up getting ratings of 8 or 7 out of 10, similar to hyped games like Devil May Cry 4 and Assassins Creed.

Seriously an 80GB PS3, DS3 Controller, and MGS4 for $499?!?! That is better than any 360 deal EVER.

This is THE time to be a ps3 owner. MGS4, KZ2, RFOM2, Socom:Confrontation, Haze, LBP, HOME, Ingame-XMB are all coming this year. I'm sure i left some games out as well.

PS. You got Blu-Ray. You waited an extra year for it. It didnt improve the game experience whatsoever. In fact now you have to install the game on the HDD before you can play it. You got free online. too bad you cant play games with your firends unless you phone them up first to coordinate. Did I mention you stiill have to buy a Bluetooth headet and HD cables to get the PS3 to play HD games online the way Sony wants you to? Oh better get that 1080P hDTV too because Sony says you need it for all of thier 1080P games running at 120fps. Heck you better get 2 1080P HDTV's for the dual HDMI ports. Better go out and replace those next-gen 6-axis controllers for the new but last gen DualShock 3 controllers.

Oh and remember how important it was for the PS3 to be fully backwards compatible with PS2 and PS1 games. Well thats not important anymore. Oh and I'm sure at any moment Home and in game XMB will be available too right??? Oh and those card/media reading ports were useless too as well as the other 2 USB ports. Oh and that pack in Blu-Ray movie isnt packed in anymore either.

But let me guess. You guys got Blu-Ray and 360 owners got RROD right? Let me guess you have to add $200.00 for HD-DVD add-on, $100.00 for 20GB HDD, $100.00 for wifi adapter. and $50.00 for Xbox Live every year to equal a PS3 right? the fact is that no console is better than the other. People like xbox, people like ps3, and people like wii. the fact the it seems to concern everyone here so much as to which affinity others have is mind boggling.

You cannot judge to effectiveness of a console on how far it pushes modern design (sure it plays a factor.)

But the arguments on the board are akin to saying Dragonforce is the best band today because Herman Li can shred like no other on the guitar. The next person may say that, i dont know, the White stripes are the best, despite the fact that they are not at the top of the talent chart.



Before you think i have gone completely insane, i digress. My main point here is that it really is a matter of taste. You may say there are no great games for PS3, but i enjoyed the hell out of Ratchet and Clank, Drakes Uncharted, DMC4, and Heavenly Sword.

Someone else may say that the 360 is only good for FPS, but i would have sold my self short if i never played through Blue Dragon, Lost Oddyssey, Oblivion, Burnout, and others.

Still others will say that the Wii is for kids or casual gamers, but playing through Resident Evil 4 (wiimote control rocks,) Zelda, Mario, and Metroid was neither a casual or "kiddy" experience for me.

The truth is, if you have turned gaming into a contest of who has the best console, you are taking away the soul of it all. Games are art forms. Some art may be complicated, some art may be simple, some bright and vibrant, others dull and muted.

The point is, games are about invoking emotion and relaxing. They are an escape.

We do not need to transfer the turmoil and conflict of everyday life to this medium.

Just let people have there escape, whichever route they choose to take.

Since I joined this site it's been my mission to try and educate the people who have been brainwashed by Sony. I mean my first console was an Atari 2600. Imagine if I had stayed loyal to Atari. LMAO. Imagine this. What if their was never am XBOX or a 360??? Would Sony be pushing it's PSN or Home??? Would Sony have speced the PS3 as high??? Would Nintendo fall out of the technology race and go a different route with the Wii???

I love the fact that I have so many choices. I could care less which console sells the most. I just like to ruffle the feathers of the Sony Defense Force on this website. When I owned my PS3 I thought it was cool, but the online didnt do jack sh!t for me, so I traded it in for another 360. I'm just waiting for Sony to get thier online service together, maybe even see how Home turns out, then I will play beyond with the rest of the SDF.

The fact is thanks to the competiton Microsoft and Nintendo gave Sony, they had to release the 40GB $400.00 console to compete, because the $600.00 was flopping big time. Now that Sony has momentum because of the price drop and Blu-Ray we get to see how Microsoft responds. Then you have Nintendo doing thier own thing and doing it better than both of the more powerful consoles.

While mentioning all consoles, i did not mean to convey the idea of people owning all threes consoles. I am fortunate enough to be able to afford them, which allows me to experience a diverse group of incredible games. I was moreso aiming to display that, whichever console someone may own, there are excellent AAA titles for it.

I wont copy and paste. I wont blindly defend the 360 just because I own one. But I can speak from the experience of owning both consoles. I can speak from the expereince on playing alot of the PS3 games because my brother got a PS3 for christmas and he comes over to play my 360 and I go over there to play his PS3. We both came to the conlusion long ago that they both have the same graphics. We both like the 360's controllers better, but like the design of the PS3 and the XMB.

We are going to see all 3 companys step up like never before, and this year is going to be insane. Gears of War 2, GTA4, Metal Gear Solid, Haze, Smash Bros, Mario Kart.

Take your pick of console; you really can't go wrong.
