The company today announced an Xbox 360® console with triple the storage space of the original console, but for the same price of $349 (U.S.) estimated retail price. Available in retail stores in the U.S. and Canada starting in early August, the upgraded Xbox 360 will include a 60GB hard drive for storing the growing wealth of digital entertainment available for the console, including music, movies, television shows, and game content. The date of the article is in May, but if you could read you would notice they are talking about April's NPD numbers.

Dudeman: Again your going on and on about the sales numbers. Hey I will admit that so far the PS3 is outselling the 360 this year on a more consistent basis. It's to be expected considering some people want a cheap Blu-Ray player, some people want it for videogames, and the fact that the 360 has been on the market for a lot longer and has thus reached a saturation point. Sony will reach this saturation point soon too by next year. Also FYI the only reason Sony isnt firther behind than 6 million units sold is because of Japan and Europe. I'm not worried about the 360. It's selling just fine in comparision to the PS3 especially with virtually no presence in Japan and lagging behind in certain European markets.

If and when the PS3 does catchup to the 360 they will be so far behind the Wii it won't matter. Plus we will be moving on to the next generation of consoles anyways. PC's are already quite a bit more powerful than the 360 or PS3. Nintendo is amassing a fortune on the Wii and DS. Microsoft has firmly established itself as a major player in videogames. Sony is stuck in last place. These are the "facts" and as such remain undisputed.

I do admit PS3 sucks first year thats why I bought this year instead last year, because to me PS3 was a waste, last year.

But with this year, plan. They look fantastic and all the games that came out already looks amazing.





And thats the reason why PS3 been outselling Xbox 360 for while, and will continue because allthe games released by SONY are stunning and upcomming will do ten times better,

So just like the resot of the Sony Sausage Smugglers on this site your living in Sony's past glory. Instead of the present. Your basing all of your hopes and dreams on the performance of the PS1 and PS2. YEt you forget that Nintendo also had the most console sales 2 years in a row with the NES and SNES. Then Sony crashed the party early before the N64 was ready to launch and Sega was choking away with a more expensive console that was too hard to develop for.

Well in reality the 360 will continue to do well in north america. But in other parts of the world ps3 will sell more than 360. Anyway i think you guys forget wii is kicking the most a$$ everywhere.

Now Microsoft launched first with a years head start and Nintendo came in and totally blew the competition away from the 360 and PS3.

The things that gave Sony an advantage the past 2 generations are a thing of the past. They didnt launch first. They no longer have the most 3rd party support. They are the most expensive console. Nintendo has captured the casual gamers market that is 90% of the gaming market in terms on console sales. Microsoft and Sony are stuck competeing for the same consumer. Us. The hardcore gamers. The ones that buy lots of games, lots of accessories. That are willing to to pay to play online.

kungfurabbit: LOL. I was just getting to that. My wife wanted to get a Wii for her sons birthday. She couldn't find them anywhere in stock. ANYWHERE. She couldn't even order a Wii by itself. She ended up getting her son a Wii bundle that had to be ordered a week in advance from Toy's R Us website. Thats how popular the Wii is. The wii has officially taken the place of the PS1 and PS2 from past generations.

Like I said Microsoft and Sony are stuck fighting for the remaining scraps.

Problem is they will just canabalize each others sales. It's already happening here in the US where most people prefer the 360. I am willing to bet 90% of the people that bought a 360 either were disgruntled Playstation owners from the past or didn't wan't to wait for the PS3. The other 10% are the type that buy all of the consoles like myself. I am now offically 66% there. When Final Fantasy comes out I will own all 3.

Like I said my issue is with Sony and their BS lies, false hype, and trojan horsing Blu-Ray. It's why I didn't wait b3yond for a year just to pay $599.00 for a glorified Blu-Ray player. I didn't have to wait for games. I didn't have to wait for features like rumble or all of the in game music, in game messagin, in game voice chat, cross game invites, etc... that the 360 gave me form day 1.

BlackTiger: In case your wondering I am a both. A disgruntled PS1 and PS2 owner who didn't beleive Sony's hype. Couldn't justify waiting a year longer and spending more money for the same graphics. The 360 controller is better. It shipped with Rumble from day 1. Live is infinetly better. I dont care of it cost's me a whole $1.04 a week. $4.17 a year. $50.00 a year. Multiplatform games perform on par or better to thier PS3 counterparts.

The only thing about the PS3 tht interests me is Blu-Ray movies and a few exclusives. Thats why I traded the one I bought in last year. No games. Just like you said it's first year sucked. No games. Yet this year hasn't been much better. The best selling game for the PS3 so far is GTA4. You can get the better version on the 360. MGS4 got great reviews. GT5P is a joke. I wuld rather wait another year and get the the complete game that hopefully has the better physics that they are promising. Haze flopped so hard it got discounted by 33% 2 weeks after it's release at Gamestop in an add they e-mailed me.

FYI I never said Microsoft was perfect. I spend 75% of my time ripping on the PS3 and the other 25% of the time ripping on the 360 and Wii.

I have said that the RROD sucks. That no standard HDD sucks. That charging out the a$$ for a 20GB HDD and 120GB HDD sucks. That I wish Live was free but would rather pay for it than have Sony's gimped PSN service for free. I said the DPAD on the 360 controller sucks.

I have said the Wii is just a recycled overclocked Gamecube with a fancy white coat of paint. I feel like the controls are gimmicky. Most of the 3rd party Wii games suck.

But damn I am happy to own a Wii because I lke Zelda, Metroid, Mario, etc... Even if the graphics are outdated. It's always about gameplay first with me. Yes I am a graphics and sound whore. Thats why I bought a PS3 last year. Blu-Ray. I thought maybe the games would be good too. WRONG. WRONG.

Nobody can tell me that a console is worth $600.00. And some of the idiots on this site past and present actually paid that much. My dumb a$$ paid $500.00 for a 60GB PS3 and that was really stretching it. But I wanted backwards compatability. Back then you needed it because there were no PS3 games :p

Bottom line is Sony lied about CGI-quality graphics last generation. They hyped the PS2 up so much before launch so that people wouldn't buy the Dreamcast. It worked unfortuantely.

Then they tried the same thing at E3 2005. Saying the Cell had twice the raw processing power fo the 360 CPU. That it would have dual HDMI that you would need to HDTV's to run games at 1080P 120fps. That it would have a built in ethernet hub. That is was a supercomputer. That the Xbox 360 was really an Xbox 1.5. etc...

They did all this in hopes that people wouldn't buy a 360 and instead buy a PS3. They lied about the launch date, they lied about available units at launch. And guess what they LIED about the performance. Theres no 4D games. How many games run at 1080P 120fps. Wheres the dual HDMI ports or Built in ethernet port. Hell they even said it would be fully backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games, then they remove PS2 backwards compatability. The best part is that the PS3 has a hard time keeping up with the 360's graphics.

PS3 can support 120 FPS and supports 1080P,

suports means it can handle out of the box,

It's up to third party to support which Wipeout HD from SONY is comming out with 1080p with 60 frames per second...

Black tiger 120 fps is stinky bull fodder, First of all the human eye can't tell a difference past 60 fps. 120 fps is just way to fast for human eyes. Also the ps3 can't do 120 fps and besides what's the point i just explained why.

Obviously if BlackTiger owned a PS3 he would know it only has "1" HDMI output and that the PS3 is only capable of a 1080P resolution at 60fps. So it's obvious he doesn't own a PS3 especially since he claimed it was a birthday gift then he claimed he got help buying it. Damn caught up in a lie.
