Kaz Hirai Says It 'Doesn't Matter When HOME Launches' >
2008/07/24 11:54:36: Posted by DM
Although Sony maintains that HOME is still on for a Fall release, we are hearing the rumblings of yet another delay. Kaz Hirai himself today stated that "it doesn't matter when we launch." He says Sony would much rather have more time to make a great product, than rush something into the market. Well, Sony, the time is ticking away. If Xbox360 beats you to the punch, that is going to look bad.

"I want to avoid that. If we have the right service, it doesn't matter when we launch - so long as it's in a reasonable timeframe," he added.

Highlight of article...

"Kaz Hirai reiterated that the service’s Beta was still on course for an Autumn launch."

and

"and that Microsoft’s recently improved online service wouldn’t be able to compete."

I dnt see a problem since it is free,

You know as much as i love how HOME is commin up, i'm not even looking forward to it, its like I'm waiting when it's ready...

Hightlight of this generation...

"Microsoft's Don Mattrick publicly reiterated at the E3 Press Conference that the Xbox 360 would outsell the Playstation 3 worldwide this generation."

and

"and that takes BIG BALLS and a LOT of CONFIDENCE, because PUBLICLY saying something like that means you KNOW it will happen, especially when Microsoft is making the statement. Microsoft usually 'doesn't comment' on things like that, but Microsoft DID COMMENT this time, because this generational 'war' is OVER!"

dudeman:

Releasing a "beta" in the fall is NOT what Sony promised. That's like saying, "PS3 launched with one HDMI port, instead of the two that Sony originally promised."

The BOTTOM LINE is that Sony is deliberately telling LIES!!!

blacktiger:

HOME for the Playstation 3 is DEFINITELY going to COST MONEY!!!

The SAME sources that told me Final Fantasy 13, Virtua Fighter 5, Assassins Creed, UT3, Devil May Cry 4, and many others would also be released on the Xbox 360 have made it 100% clear that HOME will have a SUBSCRIPTION cost!!!

HOME + Playstation 3 = Subscription Cost

what a craptastic post full of well.....absolute crap.

Also..are these the same sources that told you HD-DVD was going to win the format war?? LOL
Written by blacktiger on 2008/07/24

ahhahaha

Krogan where in the hell id you get that ?

You you're probably gonna say, i hav make shit up as usual !

hahah Dudeman good one !

He really though HD DVD was gonna win !!!

Krogan, Home will cost money if you're talking about having more add-ons

for e.g. every PS3 user will get a free HOME, but when thy want to expand the landscape, then it will cost money... thats if you wantto expand otherwisethe rest is free...

Krogan sometimes you remind me of PIMP where he talk about his imagination wife !

and Krogan SONY wanted to releasin 2 HDMI vs they promised !

they never promise, they said thats what their focusin on, instead they ran out of time, so they had to cut down some of the feature that are not needed, but hey unlike 360 they never got RROD :)

So all PS3 should be happy while 360 still on RROD, while Microsoft has 50 billion dollar, when they only spent 1 billion dollar and still not done !

lol

blacktiger: Your grammar was improving for a while, but as soon as Krogan came back, it's gone down to worse than before. Please, proofread before you post. And no, this isn't a diss to you, just internet courtesy.

If Microsoft really cared about HD-DVD, it would have won. Period.
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2008/07/25

whYte420 is 100% correct: If Microsoft would have wanted HD-DVD to "win," then they would have lived with the initial $1 Billion loss and included HD-DVD in every console. If Microsoft would have done that, then HD-DVD would be #1 right now, because there would be over 25 million owners of HD-DVD players.

For the record, let's clear some things up:

I predicted that HD-DVD would beat Blu-ray and be selected as the Official Successor to the DVD format by the DVD Forum.

Result: I was 100% correct!

Blu-ray LOST to HD-DVD, and was NOT chosen as the Official Successor to the DVD format by the DVD Forum. The reasons why HD-DVD beat Blu-ray was because:

* HD-DVD has a space advantage. The standard size of HD-DVD discs is 30GB, while the standard size of Blu-ray discs is 25GB.

* HD-DVD discs were easily made backward compatible with DVD, while Blu-ray discs were not.

* HD-DVD had MANDATORY standards such as Picture-in-Picture, which Blu-ray did NOT have.

* Blu-ray does NOT have a mandatory format for video compression. As a result, most Blu-ray discs uses the outdated MPEG-2 technology that standard DVD discs use. This is the reason why Upconverted DVD movies look virtually identical to Blu-ray movies.

* HD-DVD movies were REQUIRED to use the VC-1 video compression that is much newer and better than MPEG-2. This is the reason why HD-DVD versions of movies looked better than Blu-ray movies, even though both used 1080p resolution.

Also, HD-DVD movies are STILL released for HD-DVD players! Just because the hardware is no longer produced does NOT mean that movies are no longer released for HD-DVD. That is something to keep in mind, because these HD-DVD movies are a LOT cheaper than Blu-ray movies, and they STILL have extra features, such as extra sound formats.

Also, it's important to remember that Blu-ray sales have NOT increased since HD-DVD was discontinued. Blu-ray has NOT "won" anything. The standard DVD format is still BY FAR the champion!

And the #1 contender is NOT Blu-ray. The #1 contender to the title is On-Demand service!

To answer your other question:

The same 100% PROVEN RELIABLE SOURCES (Plural) that told me Final Fantasy 13, Virtua Fighter 5, Assassins Creed, Unreal Tournament 3, Fight Night Round 3, Fatal Inertia 3, Devil May Cry 4, and others would be released for the Xbox 360 are the ones who are saying:

HOME for the Plasytation 3 will COST MONEY!!!
