Tales Of Vesperia Is Fastest Selling 360 Game Ever In Japan >
2008/08/14 12:58:58: Posted by DM
It seems that Tales of Vesperia, the new action/RPG from Namco, is now the fastest selling Xbox360 game ever, in Japan. In the first week, the game has sold over 108,000 units, putting it at number four overall, for the week. This beats the old record holder, Blue Dragon, which sold 80,348 units in its first week. You can grab the demo here in the US if you like, it is still on the marketplace. We enjoyed the short demo very much, with real-time fighting (sort of), the game looks very promising.

PS3 fails!

PS3 has only outsold Xbox 360 in Japan by a small margin...so that means PS3 is just as much of a failure in Japan as it is in North America.

Xbox 360 actually outsold Playstation 3 during the month Blue Dragon was released...It would be interesting to see if that happened with Tales of Vesperia.

By the way...for the record, I just want to make it 100% clear that the Japanese owners of the Xbox 360 definitely will be able to play Final Fantasy 13. Microsoft has confirmed that there will be "Asian" versions released, and they did NOT deny that there were be a Japanese version released. The Asian/Japanese version may not be available at the same time as the North America/European version, but it will still be released eventually, which means the people in Japan will get to play Final Fantasy 13 on Xbox 360.

360 only leads in N. America. The rest of the WORLD is lost to MS. bwuhahahaha

Um I live in the US. So the fact that Microsoft is leading Sony here where I live is all that counts.

Spin that :p

truth hurts and i am STILL laughing about what krogan said about that small margin in Japan. hahahahahahaha

Xbox 360 has a HUGE sales lead over the Playstation 3 in North America...by MILLIONS of systems!

Xbox 360 ALSO has a sales lead over the Playstation 3 in Europe.

In fact, Edge recently pointed out the TRUTH when they said that Xbox 360 has "Sold" more units in Europe, while Playstation 3 has "Shipped" more units in Europe...meaning that there are a LOT of "unsold" Playstation 3 systems "collecting dust" on European store shelves. Edge also pointed out that there are several European regions where Xbox 360 is still not being sold, even though PS3 is...Microsoft needs to blame their logistics for that problem, and correct it as soon as possible.

You are incorrect. There will not be a new Xbox console released on the market until at least 2012...EVERY industry insider knows that releasing hardware prior to that point in time would be useless, because development tools will not be completed prior to that point in time.

krogan you are incorrect i am subscribed to gameinformer and they talked to microsoft about the next xbox console thats coming out in 2010

You are 100% incorrect!

Microsoft's boss, Shane Kim, made it 100% clear that the next Xbox 360 system would not be released before 2012.

This was confirmed by the staff of Epic and Bethesda when they pointed out that Development tools for hardware that advanced will not be finished until sometime in 2012...this means even if the games used Alpha development kits, the games could not start being developed until sometime in 2011, and then released in late 2012 when the system launches.

I'm not trying to be rude, buddy, but facts are facts...you won't see another Xbox 360 system until 2012...and the Playstation 3 will NOT last "ten years," like Sony's bogus employees say.

In fact, Game Informer is one of the sources that has previously pointed out we may not see a Playstation 4 due to the FACT that Sony has lost FAR more money with the PS3 than Microsoft ever did with the original Xbox. Microsoft lost $4 Billion with the original Xbox during its 4-year lifespan. In only 3 months Sony lost $2 Billion with the Playstation 3!

Xbox 360 has enjoys four quarters in a row--one full YEAR of profitability...a profit of nearly $450 million for the year.

The numbers are in for July in Japan.

Xbox 360 outsold the Playstation 3 by a ratio of 2.5 : 1.

This means if the Xbox 360 "fails" then the Playstation 3 has "failed" 2.5 times WORSE!

Oh...by the way, Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Playstation 3 dropped from #1 in June to #34 to July...no game in history has EVER experienced such a rapid decline!

Metal Gear Solid 4 is no longer a "system seller" for the Playstation 3, now that the Xbox 360 is outselling the PS3 in JAPAN!!!

oh ok. stupid game informer

the information you give is helpful
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2008/08/20

I actually read some new information about the financial losses of the PS3:

This year, Sony lost $1.15 Billion in the videogame industry.

This was actually an improvement over the previous year where the lost over $2 billion...

and then of course there was the initial loss of $1.9 Billion lost in only three months.

This means that Sony has managed to LOSE MORE MONEY with the PS3 than Microsoft did with the original Xbox, but it took the PS3 only HALF the time!

Xbox 360 is on an entirely different road...Microsoft earned well over $400 Million in profit strictly from the Xbox 360.
