Sony's Life With Playstation Application Available Now >
2008/09/18 3:21:02: Posted by HoTHiTTeR
While maybe not the killer app of the season, Sony's Life With Playstation "channel" has gone live. To receive the new piece of software, simply launch the Folding @ Home application and accept the user agreement to download and install the new service. Sony's new Live Channel delivery method of news and weather takes Nintendo's News and Weather channel one step further by allowing you to cure Cancer in the background. Feel good about yourself while you check the weather in Moscow - you could be saving millions in the process.

I like Life a lot and could see myself using it whenever i'm bored or waiting for something to finish downloading. They need to add a way to zoom in on the news once it's in the browser. Also, The music seems like it would get old pretty fast. Did it freeze up on anyone here ? I had it freeze once, but it may have just been a fluke. Cheers to the Wii Weather channel clone...

I didn't even think to download it last night while playing Warhawk. I'll have to check it out today and get back to you.

Probably about as amazing as a news and weather app can look, but I can imagine them using the Cell processor for much more. Like rendering all the world's weather situations near real-time on the globe, so you could see where Hurricane Ike was at any given moment to within say 30 minutes accuracy. I haven't tried it yet (will try it when I get home from work), but if it did that, THAT would be really cool.
