Microsoft Bans More Modified Xbox360 Consoles From Live >
2008/11/12 11:09:11: Posted by DM
We heard about this a couple of days ago, but were waiting for the official word before we posted. Well, Major Nelson has made it official. Microsoft has completed another round of modified Xbox360 bans via Xbox Live. Those few who modify their Xbox360 consoles to play pirated games, and were unlucky enough to be caught on Live, got the ban hammer. This was not so surprising, considering both Fable II and Gears of War 2 were released early, and many pirates have been playing them online for weeks.

I think MS is afraid that when XNE launch its going to be harder to detect pirated games if they gamers starts loading them up on to the hard drive offline. Thats if they don't already have something in mind to detect moded consoles better.

With the new kind of technology that they have in place for NXE, it'll be easier.

Think of this as cleaning the channel before an update.

It'll be easier for who the modders or MS bans.?

MS bans

I think if that was the case, I think they would of launched NXE Then start a ban wave. It would be smarter to keep people in the false sense of security. Get what I'm saying?? But being that they are doing the ban wave before NXE launch is because as one MS employee stated before.. they are expecting errors, RROD part2, etc do you know how confusion that would cause to send ban waves the same week or the week after NXE Launches. I smell overtime for customer service staff.. and more bad rep for MS. Get what I'm saying.. your turn .. or whoever wants to challenge or agree with this..

Ummmm there is nothing to challenge since you're wrong. Maybe it would be confusing you to you, but there is no such thing as RROD part 2. 360's will still RROD during and after the NXE update, and as I explained in the other topic, the article in question was a load of FUD. The guy admitted on his own blog to being a hardcore sony fanboy.

Also it doesn't make sense to ban people after the firmware update, it makes more sense to ban them before it. Kick everyone off of Live before making a massive push as that update is the more logical path IMO.

Xenos, I'm agreeing with you that it makes more sense if they start to ban now (Which they have). But you're saying it'll be easier for MS after NXE launches .. correct me if I'm wrong.. this is my interpretation of you wrote there " With the new kind of technology that they have in place for NXE, it'll be easier."

Wow looking back at that post and my grammer was REALLY bad, sorry about that.

To the point blue, nah I would expect every company to follow the same path as the one taken here

well yeah for future bans but it makes sense to clear the playing field before updating said field.

I'm going to mod my Xbox 360 today or tomorrow. I'll just buy another 360 to play on Xbox Live. A 360 Arcade is $199, the price of 3 Xbox games is $180, makes a lot of sense to hack it. I'll put my money on it that it'll be easier for MS to detect F/W hacks with NXE. Copying the game to the hard drive wouldn't make a difference at all, you need to have the disc in the tray anyways, which still doesn't even matter because they're looking for the F/W on the drive.

Its all good.. I have NXE installed on my Xbox right now.. I just put Dark Sector (which sucks as far as storyline goes ) on my hard drive it only take up 3.14GB. I thought it was going to more than doubled that. But its running ...in the words of barat. NICE
Written by kr0niXz on 2008/11/12

That sucks because all the games when you download them are 6.25GB....
Written by B1ueBurneR on 2008/11/12

I have the premium and its still empty I always about 9GB free. If I download demos I play them if I like them I buy em If I don't I delete them.. uploading the disc took about 3 minute.

Did you download the leaked version of the OS Blue, or did you get in MS' preview program?

@ Kronixz, yeah I agree, most of the games clock in around 6GB and I wish you could extract what dummy files/padding that are there so that it would take up less space. However since this "install" is basically just copying the ISO file (or whatever is the equivalent for a 360 game) to the HDD it's not the same. If this was an install along the lines of a PC or PS3 game, we may have been able to delete the dummy files from the HDD. So a game could really be around 4GB but still take up 6GB due to the padding/dummy files used to arrange the data on the disc.

Leaked Version, I like it so far its way better than before. by the way whats the difference?

the loading time in Dark Sectors drastically improved. Beside thats the only game I loaded up so far. and its only 3.14Gs. I'll try another game in a minute.. I'm thinking what 360 game took forever to load....
