Eidos Responds To Tomb Raider Review Score Fiasco > |
2008/11/21 15:53:54: Posted by DM | |
A few days back, information surfaced that Eidos was asking websites not to post Tomb Raider Underworld review scores that were less than 80 until November 19, after the game's release. Well, now Eidos has issued a statement to clear up the mess. They claim that the embargo agreement for sites who got the game early was not to release any review at all before said date. After the Kane & Lynch fiasco that was the cause of so many people leaving Gamespot, who knows what the real story is at this point. Our original NDA stated that in order to receive an advance copy of the game, reviewers agreed not to post reviews ahead of 5:00pm, Wednesday 19th November 2008. Nothing else. No further obligations whatsoever.

I've read that this is a mediocre, very short title.

Links? I was thinking of picking it up today and the only score that I've seen is a 8.5 which isn't really mediocre. I've also seen other quotes talking about how this is "the best tomb raider yet" blah blah blah. Are you sure that what you read wasn't from a bitter sony fanboy ; )
Edit:Found a list of some scores......Official PlayStation Magazine UK: 8/10NeoPlus Poland: 9/10PSM Italy: 8.5/10Play3 Germany: 9/10GamePro Germany: 8.5/10360 UK: 8.5/10GameReactor: 8/10 (What an adventure game in 2008 should be like, the best Tomb Raider adventure in over 10 years) -- Thanks Benedict! Not so sure what you've read Victus, but these review aren't really supporting your earlier comment.

I'll have to find the link for the review that I read, I don't recall at the moment. I've read that the game is over in a 4-6 hour window and that it was meh-tastic.

Well, no matter how pointless 80% of a review may be, unless your one review has a compelling take on the game, I'll take the average of these scores I posted over your one review. Again, maybe the reviewer is a bitter sony fanboy who believes this is all a conspiracy to how the game was cut off just to offer the "full game" as DLC. =p lol
Edit 2:The more I think about this, the more I'm unsure about picking it up. Not because of any said bitter review that you mention victus =p but because I have yet to finish the last TR game. On top of that, once I finished the "other" TR game in my collection, I never picked it up since. I may have to see if this DLC is going to be good enough to offer incentive to playing the game more before picking this up tonight. My backlog of unfinished games is growing, and I really dont' need to add another one.
