New Xbox360 Arcade Units Come With 256mb Internal Storage > |

360fanboy has received official confirmation from MS that the new Xbox360 Arcade units come with 256mb of internal storage. This is the same size as the external memory card, by the way. This means you can save games and download arcade games right out of the box without a memory card. Good decision, we think.

The main reason for this was to ensure that no arcade console had compatibility issues with NXE.

So what about the old arcade units?

I dont think 1 gig is bad idea, why not 1 gig ?that thing worth nothing these days...

blacktiger: Please STFU. On second thought, just leave...

@ kronixz, old arcade units came with a 215mb memory card and old Core unit owners can get a free memory card from Microsoft or a 20GB HDD for $20.@ blacktiger, 1GB doesn't cost much on it's own, but multiply that millions and the cost adds up. Besides it would be a punch in the balls to current Arcade owners.

so if you buy the arcade, then get a HDD later on, will that storage still be available

@daveydz3,most likely. everytime i play/save a game, my xbox usually asks where to save it. my only option would be the hard drive, so in that case most likely it would have an internal memory option with the HDD option.

@ daveydz3, yesI would also expect ALL jasper boards to have the internal memory in the future, even on Premiums and Elites. It would be cheaper for MS to produce one board as apposed to two different boards. This is the same reason they upgraded all 360s to have HDMI along with the Elites, it was easier to make this way.

edit: I meant cheaper, not just easier but cheaper

ah, makes sense, thanks!

No problem, just keep in mind that NXE will be taking up 128MB of that memory.
