Nintendo Product Sales Saved Christmas? >

Nintendo product apparently made up over 50 percent of the Holiday video game related sales in 2008. According to Jesse Divinch of Electronic Entertainment Design and Research, the Wii sold over 3.2 million units in December, the most for any console platform in history. The accessories and games filled in the rest, it seems. Nintendo must be doing something right.

"Without these sales, the industry would have likely felt the full wrath of the recession - much like other industries closely linked to gaming," wrote Divnich.

I really need to find out how to become one of these over-payed analysts. I've been saying this for a good while now, if it wasn't for the Wii (and in part the DS), the game industry would hardly be "recession proof"
