This one is rumor mill until we can get some sort of Sony word on it. Apparently, one website is reporting that SOCOM: Confrontation has been dealyed until 2009 in Europe. The release date on the Australian Sony site has also been changed to reflect 2009. The forums in Europe are going crazy, as you can imagine. As soon as we get some sort of confirmation, we will update. As you know, the game has been out in North America for a few weeks, and has been plagued with issues. The most recent patch 1.30 does help a lot, though. (Thanks, Dapunk)

Update: We asked our Sony rep if he could shed any light on it, and of course, Sony gave us the party line.

Sony Computer Entertainment America does not comment on producet launches
for other territories, including Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

Today, we bring you the first GR PostView5, the new game review system we have decided upon here at GR. Yes, this is part of the changes and additions we spoke about. We figure, every website out there does their four-page review with their number or letter review system, just before or slightly after a game is released. Well, as you will read in the intro, this is our solution to the long-winded reviews you find everywhere else. This how we will be bringing you game review info from now on, so check it out! More to come.

Just a quick FYI for our European readers. Those who belong to the Playstation Underground and applied to the Killzone 2 beta, should be getting acceptance emails today, if you got in, that is. The game is due out soon, but the US emails have not going out yet, it seems (for the public beta).

Sony has stated they they are still researching why the Little Big Planet servers are not performing 100%. The game has been patched to version 1.03, but it seems that the game is still experiencing intermittent issues. The single player game is not being affected, of course, but the online experience, which is a big part of LBP, is the main problem. Now though, it seems the problems may be coming to an end, so let's hope so.

"We are aware that the online environment of LittleBigPlanet is having server performance issues, and we are investigating the cause," Sony told Eurogamer this morning. "We'll have an update to the online gameplay as soon as we possibly can."

Boy, the Little Big Planet news just keeps on coming. What an emotional roller coaster it has been! According to the BBC, Media Molecule is already working on a sequel to the game, which is not even due out officially until tomorrow, when the servers go live. Technology editor Darren Waters wrote on Friday: "Even before the game has hit the shops, the team are already at work on a sequel." Sounds good to us, and this time Media Molecule, leave the Koran quotes out, please.

Of course, we have been telling you about the Little Big Planet launch issues. Well, Sony has announced the 1.02 patch for North America. The game should be ready for the public tomorrow, and Sony is patching the game already in anticipation. Hopefully tomorrow we will see you online.

We know many of you call us Sony haters, and we are sure this news will only fuel that belief, but it is newsworthy nonetheless. The retail release of Little Big Planet, the game Sony is pinning a ton of hopes on this year, is being botched badly. Firstly, the server are not even up for those of us who already have the game. No official word when they will be up. There is no official release date, or more specifically, some stores say October 24, some say October 28, some have no date. On top of that, the pre-order codes that comes from Gamestop, used to unlock costumes for sackboy, do not work in a lot of cases. Neither the Kraytos code or the Nariko code work, it seems. Finally, and this really is not Sony's fault, but many of said code cards that were given to pre-ordering gamers are so hard to rub off, the codes are rubbing or ripping off too. A bit of a fiasco, to say the least. Sony better get things straightened out in the new week.

Toumani Diabate, the artist responsible for the track in Little Big Planet that has cause so much controversy and a game recall, spoke to the BBC's news at Ten. The singer, who is a Muslim himself, quoted lines from the Qur'an in his song, which has caused Sony to recall the game and repress it without the offending lyrics. The artist does not see the issue, claiming that it is quite normal to play music inspired by the words of the prophet Mohammed. We can see both sides.

"It's quite normal to play music and be inspired by the words of the prophet Mohammed," he told the BBC. "It's my way to attract and inspire people towards Islam."

Sorry Europeans, we have some bad news for you today. It looks like Sony is going to pull a boney again on you. Little Big Planet has been delayed in Europe until November 14, 2008. The game was originally due for release next week, October 24, but Sony told GI the game now has a bit more to go. Sony did say they may be able to put the game out a bit earlier, but they will update everyone when and if they have an earlier release day. Sorry again, Europeans.
