The first official Silent Hill game for the next-gen consoles has been named. Silent Hill: Homecoming will be released at the end of this year, and it may even get a worldwide release. The story introduces and follows a new character, Alex Shepard, who returns to his hometown of Shepard's Glen to investigate the sudden disappearance of his brother. Things go from bad to worse, as they usually do when Silent Hill is involved. Silent Hill director Cristophe Gans has confirmed that work is already underway on the second SH film. He promises that the problems of the first film will be ironed out this time, and the sequel will be even better. We will believe it when we see it.

According to the UK OPM magazine, Silent Hill 5 is indeed coming, and apparently it will be similar to Silent Hill 2 in gameplay. The atmosphere and direction will also resemble the second installment, with the focus on psychological horror, letting your mind do the work. The better way that is, folks. No word on a platform, but both consoles is probably a safe bet.

Silent Hill Origins for PSP is the most recent Silent Hill game from Konami. The game is shrouded in mystery, as we have yet to see the title in playable form. The game, which is not a remake of Silent Hill but a prequel to it, is being produced by William Oertel. Shacknews recently spoke with Oertel, and was able to pry loose some game details. Check them out for yourself.

Apparently someone has uploaded a video to Youtube that is supposed to be a trailer from the next-gen Silent Hill game. It certainly looks too good to be fan-made. If anyone can decipher the Japanese text please comment.

According to 1up, Konami is planning a new Silent Hill game on the PSP called The Silent Hill Experience. No word yet on just what this new game will be, but 1up speculates it may be the SH1 remake we have all been waiting for.

Over at ROE there is a forum post with some info on Silent Hill 5 that Akira Yamaoka revealed in a recent interview. Bascially SH5 is going to return to the psychological roots of SH2, if that is a good or a bad thing is up to you.

According to 1up, a report claims that the team behind Silent Hill is currently working on a Playstation 3 project. Now, of course, this is more or less common sense, but it is good to know that work is already underway.
