It is official, folks! Street Fighter IV has a home console date in Europe and North America! On Tuesday, February 17, 2008 in North America, and Friday, February 20, 2008 in Europe, we will finally be able to get our hands on the fourth installment of the quintessential fighter. Great news! Now we wait! (Thanks, Pur)

It seems that Rose, the fighter from the SF Alpha/Zero series, is going to be in SF IV. As you can see, Shoryuken obtained what is supposedly an image of the console edition SF IV character select screen, and there on the bottom row, between Dan and Sakura, is someone who looks an awful lot like Rose. Rumor mill for now, but great news if true.

According to X-Play, who caught up with SF IV Producer Yoshi Ono, the home US console versions of Street Fighter IV will be released sometime this Winter. Great news! Since there is no official US arcade release, he said Capcom is going to try to get it to the US gamer as soon as possible. He said he does not want to start rumors that the game will be released this year, but "definitely this Winter," was what he stated. We cannot wait!

"There is no official North American arcade release, so we kind of feel bad that you guys have to wait for it. That's why we're trying to get it to you as soon as possible. Before the Japanese have a really long period of time to get really good at it first and totally kick your butt online…We don't want to start rumors that it's this year, but definitely this winter. At some point you'll be sitting in you winter coat looking at snow out the window…and right then we'll kind of heat you up a little with some hot street fighter action so look forward to that."

DasGamer interviewed Yoshinori Ono, the producer of Street Fighter IV. He spoke about various things like how lag is a big issue with online modes of fighting games. In fact, SFIV online mode is not confirmed yet, it seems. The real news is that he admits to wanting to do another Capcom Vs. Marvel game. This is the second time we have heard rumblings of this. Only time will tell, but let's hope we are that lucky!

Yoshinori Ono: I’d like to do another Marvel game, a Marvel vs. Capcom. I regard Marvel as the best in comics. I would like to do it again, and I did mention this in a previous interview. Apparently the president of Marvel Entertainment read that, and really wants that to happen. When I went to the US, he invited me to his office and actually offered support and so on and so forth. I met with him again at Comic-Con, and apparently during a speech he said, “Capcom is cooking up something with us.” That is not true at all, but we’re quite keen on the concept.

There is a new trailer for SFIV over at the official Japanese website. This one features Chun Li, and is heavy on the animation. Click on the new video on he top right side that says "up" next to it. Also, there are new screenshots of Gouken in action. You can view them here. Is it us, or does he look a bit like Heihachi?

This one is from the "in-case-you-really-missed-it" department, but we like to be thorough. The fan-vote that Capcom ran in order to see who the players really wanted to see included in Street Fighter IV has been completed. The winner is our favorite blonde British Bombshell, Cammy. Akuma was second, but he is already included in the arcade, so good news all around.

"As you know, we allowed people to vote on which character they most wanted to see in the console version, and Cammy won, so she's definitely in the game," SF IV producer Yoshinori Ono told 1UP.

Just a quick FYI. For those of you lucky enough to live, where else, in SoCal, specifically Walnut, CA, you will be allowed the privilege of playing on the first Street Fighter IV arcade machine installed in the US. The arcade is located right across the street from the Mt. San Antonio College in the same plaza with Jack In The Box according to SD Tekken. Anyone who can check it out, let us know how it is!

The latest video from Street Fighter IV has been released. This direct feed vid is great quality, and you can really see the game's mechanics in action. Remember, the game is being debuts right now at the EVO2k8 fighting tournament in Las Vegas. The word from the guys who play SF for a living is that the game plays more like SF3: 3s minus parrying. Good or bad news that is, depends on you. One more day of tournament play is slated, so tune in tomorrow for one more day of news and vids from the latest Capcom fighters.

SF4 producer Yoshinori Ono, spoke with Siliconera at CoicCon. He reveals tons about Street Fighter IV, and even speaks about the possibility of SF2HD Remix on Wii! He also gets into technical issues like the Xbox360 controller and cross-platform PC-Xbox360 play. Capcom is going all-out for the revival of Street Fighter, and we can't get enough.

Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono spoke at ComicCon today on Street Fighter IV, and the rebirth of the series and 2D fighting. This fourth installment is going to play much more like the Street Fighter II of old.

"Please don't get me wrong, of course we love Street Fighter III, but if there's any problem with that game, it's that we changed too much of the rulebook of Street Fighter II, so that's why we went back to the older rules for Street Fighter IV."

There may even be extra characters planned for the console versions, as in true classic Capcom style. It seems Capcom has long-term plans for the new rebirth of the series, which is fantastic news. Do not forget, we are getting Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom soon as well, the spiritual successor to Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, we hear. Capcom 2D is back, baby!
