It was the initial week in the UK for both Battlefield: BC and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Super Smash beat out BF on the NPD charts, with Lego Jones pulling in third. Super Smash became the third biggest UK Wii game launch, with Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii taking the top 2 spots. This week's list was a big change from last week's apparently, with seven of the ten games not returning to the top 10. For the complete list click read more.

Why this is taking so long is beyond us, but EU Wii gamers will be getting Smash Brothers on June 27, 2008. What has to be localized we are not certain, and why it is going to take an extra 3 or 4 months is a real question. At least the game has a date now, though. Click read more for the official info.

Nintendo has announced that Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the fastest selling game in Nintendo's history. The game has sold more than 1.4 million copies in just one week. It even got up to as high as 120 units a minute at one point.


"Super Smash Bros. Brawl has made the leap from video game to cultural phenomenon," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing.

Unless you live on Mars in a cave, you have surely heard that since its rel
ease, Super Smash Bros has been giving some Wii consoles issues. Disc read errors are the most abundant, but there are other problems as well. To this end, Nintendo has setup an online repair order form users can fill out, and they also are expediting shipping. Nintendo has never been one to slack on customer service.

"Due to the nature of this particular issue, you should not lose any of your stored data," continued the post. "In some rare cases you may have to re-download your Virtual Console games from the Wii Shop Channel, but there is no cost to doing so."

This should come as a surprise to no one, but the new Super Smash brothers game as become the fastest game in Wii history to reach 1 million copies sold. As we have been saying all along, better reserve your copy now.

Importers are warning that Nintendo may not even be able to fill pre-orders for Super Smash Bros. in Japan. Apparently, the popularity of the title is exceeding all estimates, and the big N may not even be able to fill 1/2 of the pre-sales. Then again, our good friends over at National Console Support excpect thaat this is more of a delay than a shortage. Time will tell, but those of you in the US should pre-order with your local store ASAP.

Please note that Nintendo has badly cut pre-orders placed by all distributors and is only shipping very limited quantities into the market this week," states Play Asia on its website. "Our first shipment of Super Smash Bros. Brawl has reached us today, only covering about 15 per cent of all pre-orders that we have received," added the importer.

According to Game Informer's Online Jeff Cork, who is reporting live from Nintendo's Fall Gamers' Summit, has said Super Smash Bros. will be delayed till Feb 10th 2008 in North America. No details were mentioned why, but could it be because Sonic is now on the team and they need more time? Who knows, but stay tuned!
