The new point system Nintendo is going to utilize once the DSi store is open has been revealed. There will not be separate Wii and DS store points, they will be called Nintendo points, and will be universal. Unfortunately, if you use a 3000 points card on your Wii say, you cannot then use 1000 of those points on the DS and 2000 on the Wii. They will be console-specific, not account universal. According to the Japanese Nintendo slides, anyway.

Nintendo America boss Reggie Fils-Aime says he did Wii Music an "injustice" by underselling its complexity at E3. He says the game is actually a quick rhythm title that should prove popular this Holiday season.

"We may have done that title an injustice at E3 by showing something that looked so easy. We made it appear too simple. Now we're showing the tremendous variety of instruments and tones and how challenging it is to make music that sounds good."

At the San Francisco follow-up event to the Japanese DSi announcement, Nintendo confirmed a US release of the DSi, but it will not debut until "well into 2009." They also revealed Club Nintendo's North American debut. The DSi was not the focus of the event, but the presentation began with a demo of the unit. Something to note, the demo showed that the unit would have internal flash memory, but it also showed the unit playing only AAC files, and not MP3. According to GS, that is all the unit will support, even though the Japanese unit supposedly has an MP3 player. The rest of the event was to highlight the upcoming Wii releases for the year.

*Update: Looks like its AAC playback only in all regions, folks. Sorry.

Nintendo has announced the new storage solution for the Wii at their conference today in Japan. It has been confirmed that Nintendo will allow users to download games from the Wii Shop onto the SD card. It is unclear if this means users will be able to play the games directly from the card, but if not, it seems like a pretty half-assed solution to us. Nintendo also made it clear though that it will be easy to transfer the games from the SD card to the Wii main memory and vice versa. This could mean that we still cannot play the files from the card. More info when we get it. Unfortunately, this update will not even be available until Spring 2009 for some reason.
