This is more or less a no-brainier, but now it is official. Shigeru Miyamoto has stated that he is overseeing the creation of a new Mario game for either the Wii or the Nintendo DS. As we already know, he is also working on a new Pikmin and Zelda game, so it seems only right to round out all three franchises with a new game. Miyamoto admits, ""Making these 'traditional' games is what I am best at." Don't expect these game for at least a year, though.

In case you have not been keeping up, Nintendo is in trouble again with a controller patent. A US judge has ruled that the Wii Classic Pad, the Wavebird, and the Gamecube pad cannot be sold in the US. The ban, though, has been put on hold while Nintendo appeals the decision, which is expected immediately. In the meantime, Nintendo has to put all profits from the sales of these accessories into an escrow account. A company called Anascape has won the 21 million dollar lawsuit for patent infringement, which covers six types of motion sensing simultaneously. Stay tuned.

Nintendo's announcement of the 1:1 WiiMotion Plus Wiimote add-on apparently took developers by surprise, according to GameInformer. The general feeling among developers seems to be one of "betrayal." A strong word to use, for sure, but they all said they had no advance notice of the device, and were as surprised as everyone when it was announced at E3. This means gamers will not see third party support for the device for at least 6-9 months, and any games currently in development have to be retro-fitted to support it, if need be. Sounds like more work for nothing, we would be a bit upset too.

More Wii news today. Nintendo has unveiled the Wii Photo Service. In conjunction with Fujifilm, Nintendo has added a feature to the Wii dashboard which will allow users to upload and print photos via the net. Users will be able to create individual prints, albums, and name cards that can even display a Mii! Nintendo is really capitalizing on the "whole family" aspect of the Wii. Wii points, unfortunately, cannot be used to purchase this service. The service is only available in Japan at the moment, but expect it in the US soon.

According to an interview with Sega's president, Kotaku caught him mentioning Resident Evil 5 for the Wii on video. Of course, rumor mill for now, as we think he may have just misspoke. It would be real cool, though, especially if it support WiiMotion Plus.

Satoru Iwata has admitted that Nintendo's friend code system for use on Wii Connect 24 could certainly be improved. Nintendo is currently working to come up with a better system, thankfully. In an interview with Gamedaily, he also admits that having restrictions makes him feel safer as a parent.
