Spiderman: Friend Or Foe

Spiderman : Friend or Foe is a new side scrolling 3-D beat them up published by Activision. Due to the fact that games such as Halo 3 and Project Gotham Racing 4 were released around the same time, many people did not even know the game was available. This is a shame because Activision has actually published a simplistic yet fun little game. Nothing spectacular, mind you, but not worthless by a long shot. If you have played any of the X-Men games then you will be right at home with Spiderman: Friend or Foe.

When I said the game was simplistic I meant it. This is not such a bad thing though, as the game is partially geared towards younger gamers. This does not mean that old experienced gamers cannot have fun with the title for a few hours. In fact, Spiderman and his allies/enemies all perform complicated looking, yet easy to execute combinations.

The basic premise of the game is actually fairly unique. Spiderman teams up with some of his former foes in order to battle hordes of unknown robot baddies. Fiends like Dr. Octopus, Venom, and the Green Goblin eventually because valued allies in the fight against, well against the unknown hordes of robots. In the beginning, Spidey is persuaded by Col. Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. to help fight against the above-mentioned supervillains, who are all apparently having their minds controlled by someone, somewhere. It is Spidey’s job to defeat and recruit the former enemies, and wreak mass destruction and mayhem in the meantime.

Unfortunately, that is about the extent of the plot in S: FoF. I told you it was simplistic, I was not kidding. The game does not even have a difficulty setting so you were more or less stuck with the equivalent of the easy setting from any other game. You will have no trouble defeating any enemy that the game throws at you, and if you are playing co-op, then it becomes ridiculously run of the mill.
