	Since the PS3 2.4 firmware trophy leak hit the net yesterday, CVG has gotten an update directly from Sony regarding the new system, and they share the details with us. There will be four types, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Platinum is only awarded when you have collected all other trophies in a game, which stands to reason. There are no gamer points, it is all done by a leveling up system like COD4. The firmware is expected in about three weeks or so, right around E3 time. They also have a list of in-game XMB features that will be available. They include: * Friend category * View, send, receive messages * Manage downloads * Sign in to PlayStation Network * Register friends * Manage Bluetooth devices * Music category * Use the system BGM * Work the system BGM operation panel * View profiles * Game category * Use the voice changer Check the link for the full details, it seems the PS3 is finally catching up to the 360 in terms of dashboard features. >Link

i'll have to agree with DM, the PS3 is finally "catching up" in terms of accessable features while playing a game. all this should've been there from the beginning, but i can't blame Sony though, they are competing against the number 1 software maker in the world, so its natural for MS to own Sony there. but from what i learned in a business class, your competitors make your products better by pointing out your weaknesses. the 360 kicking the PS3's butt can only make Sony provide better games/features. too bad it took so damn long! lol...

incoming00: Well it would be nice if this were all true. It's half the reason I am waiting to give the PS3 a second chance. Then there is a rumored price drop by the end of the year to $299.00. They get those 2 things done and I may be able to look past the whole Blu-Ray fiasco and get another PS3... A few more games wouldn't hurt either :p

This is good news for the ps3 owners but the trophy system sounds crap.

FYI I owned a PS3 before your did. So I can at least say something about it from hands on experience. The reason I say negative things about it is because it pisses the Sony Defence Force off. Just so you know unlike you I owned all 3 generations of Playstation consoles. So unlike you I know wtf I am talking about. My beef isn't with the PS3. It's with Sony. Like Sony gives a rats a$$ about you. All they wan't is your money. People can complain about the RROD all they wan't. But the 360 still has a 3 year warranty to cover it. WTF has Blu-Ray done for Sony??? Wow 1 game. MGS4. Which was more cut scene than gameplay. IF that's what Blu-Ray gives you, then you are the biggest sucker out there.
