Sony's Reeves Says Publisher Exclusivity 'Thing Of Past' >
2008/08/26 9:58:31: Posted by DM
SCEE President David Reeves has stated to GI that he believes that deals to make certain games exclusive to one platform with publishers is probably a 'thing of the past." He does state that working directly with a developer "works," though, so it may not be the end of Sony exclusives just yet.

"It does, and I put it this way: we believe that investment in our own intellectual properties - as particularly Phil Harrison and I tried to do in the last five years with SingStar, or with The Getaway, or with Buzz! - these are ours, we can put them in our cupboard," he said. "It's like a patent. We can take them forward.

The Getaway? didnt they can that game with Eight Days?
Written by B1ueBurneR on 2008/08/26

Those two games look similar.

Eight Days turned out to be just a bunch of screen shot Sony used to hype up their Zombies, Right F@gTiger

He may be referencing the PS2 version.

FACT

Xbox 360 is still getting PLENTY of exclusive games from Third-Party developers.

Infinite Undiscovery

Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope

Command & Conquer 3 - Red Alert

Universe at War

...I know you guys don't like my "long" posts, so I will stop right there.

But the ENTIRE reason "why" the Playstation 3 is nearly TWO YEARS old and still has ZERO games in the Real-Time Strategy genre is because games in the RTS genre are released as console exclusives for the Xbox 360, and are NOT released at all for Playstation 3.

@Dorkgan, FACT STFU! No one wants to hear of your rants on RTS games on the 360. FACT! that does not make or break a console! FACT! you need to get laid.

Krogan you post started out fine then ended in flames :p

You made your point with the list of 360 3rd party titles coming out, then absolutely killed it with your RTS statement.

Just trying to help you out. If you would post more stuff like the first half of your post and leave it like that, then other members wouldn't jump all over you as much.

what would really help out urdnot is to not recylce his garbage. cans and bottles are meant to be recycled, not useless "FACT" garbage.

What's the last RTS I've ever purchased? Hmm, none, oh well, so much for that.

The ps3 has plenty of good games, just because said games may also be on the 360 or PC doens't mean they aren't good games on the ps3. The ps3 also has quite a few good exclusives at all, however just like any other exclusive, these games may not be for everyone. Just because you don't care for a game does not mean the game isn't great. I don't care for Viva pinata, pikmin, or LBP, but I would be VER ignorant to say that they aren't great games regardless of the system.

Also Krogan, you can take IU off of that list because MS owns the IP so of course it's going to be an exclusive.

Kenny K:

&

VaeVictus:

I don't want to fight with you guys. Honestly, there is no need for you guys to proactively target me in aggressive ways.

I realize that incoming00 and others may have thought my comment about Real-Time Strategy games (or the lack thereof) on the Playstation 3 was recycled trash, but you need to realize that it is a shame that this type of trash has been recyclable for two years now...especially because the Real-Time Strategy genre has been growing in popularity so much lately on the Xbox 360 and PC.

My comment about Real-Time Strategy games being released as a console exclusive for Xbox 360, but never seeing a release on the Playstation 3 was something that needed to be discussed, in my opinion, because Reeve's specifically said that he thought "exclusives" were a thing of the past. The evidence seems to suggest that is a very true thing for the PS3, but the Xbox 360 still gets plenty of console exclusive games from third-party developers, and Microsoft actually says they are going to try and get even more.

For example, Tales of Vesperia was released today, and that is an Xbox 360 exclusive RPG that a lot of people really like; it has received great reviews.

^ it's not a trend that will be common krogan. You really are nit-picking over nothing. Maybe mr. Reaves should have said "Big name exclusies are a thing of the past" because they are.

Both the ps3 and 360 will get random 3rd party exclusives here and there, but nothing worth celebrating over (like you're doing here).

urdnot, you say that subjects like that need to be discussed. well, how many times are you going to post it until its discussed? i say its recycled garbage because we heard it from you the first time and no one cared. if they did then we all would have discussed it. but just because we dont doesnt mean we keep wanting to hear about it over and over and over again... hence recycled garbage, or broken record, or stupid dumb dog with shock collar who keeps trying to leave the yard.

^^Lol^^ I take stupid dumb dog with shock collar who keeps trying to leave the yard, for 500.
