Ditch those wires. The 360 is all about wireless. We take a look at the wireless headset, this season's affordable upgrade.

By its very definition, a good gift is getting somebody something that they might not buy themselves. The XBOX 360 wireless headset is exactly that. If you have $60 to spend and don’t want any new games, or feel tethered by the wired headset, by all means this is for you. Otherwise, you’re not missing out on too much, except for something else to charge combined with the added convenience of a stand-alone peripheral. The wireless headset makes a great gift, as your recipient most likely wanted one of these, but didn’t want to plunk down the cash.

All this aside, the 360 wireless controller is not without it's faults. The range and battery life could be better. We've also heard quite a few people report that the mic on this thing works a little too well, and they hear every decibel of our audio systems in the background, even at low volume levels. We're also not digging the fact the battery on this isn't user replacable. This isn't a big deal right now, but what about in two years when you're getting a couple of hours max off the battery?

Pros:

-Light and comfortable
-Can be used with voice or video chat without the need for a controller
-LED indicator lights if you’re using multiple headsets
-Noticeably better voice quality than the wired headset

Cons:

-Slightly expensive compared to the wired versions or comparable products using similar technology
-Short battery life (rated at 8 hours)
-Non-user replaceable battery—how much will the replacement service cost (if there is one)?
-Shorter range than advertised. We got around 15-20 feet
-AC adapter required for recharging. We would have liked to see a USB-charging solution to make use of the 360’s USB ports
-Proprietary connectivity technology, which means you can’t use this with Bluetooth cell phones

We’ve spent the last month using this as our headset of choice, so here’s our video review.
