Just because I am a sadist, I decided to review Star Wars Episode III for Xbox as well. I know how much you guys like to rip my reviews apart, I am a big fan of constructive criticism. Or destructive criticism. Whichever. Before we begin I want it on the record that I am a huge Star Wars fan, and probably a little biased to begin with. Players will control all the Jedi abilities of both Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, As Anakin, players will unleash the power of the Dark Side, and in Obi-Wan, the light side. Based on your performance in combat, after each level you can power up specific force or combat powers, thus making your character that much more powerful. The graphics in this game are not the best I have ever seen, but they are good enough. The droids and people are small but they do move well, except in the in-game cut scenes of course. All your favorite characters are represented, R2, Obi-Wan, and of course, the prince of darkness himself, Anakin. The saber attacks are fluid, and the combos, even though they are a bit random and repetitive, are fun to execute. The sound, well, after all, it is a Star Wars game. The sound is of course fantastic. Like with most Star Wars games I play, I cranked up the music setting to full, and turned the voice and effects down to 1, and cranked the old receiver volume up. To hell with my neighbor's bad heart I say. If Star Wars doesn't cure him, what will? The single player mode is great. Albeit the levels are a bit monotonous in the beginning, they gameplay is fun and fast. You switch off between Obi-Wan and Anakin, fighting your way through droves of Federation battle droids and the like. You can also use your light saber to cut through solid metal doors, and at one point you can even use your light saber to cut through the floor and fall below. There is also another completely separate reason to play the single player mode. I don't happen to agree with this but if you play through the entire game you will basically have seen the movie. It is true. The single player game gives fans an inside scoop on what the movie holds in store. |
