Video game properties are the new up-and-coming properties to make big-budget special-effects laden movies out of. Twentieth Century Fox is trying its hand as well, but not with a game you would expect a movie to be made of. The Sims, believe it or not, is the franchise that Fox has its eye on for a hit movie. Oh well.

At the last ever E3, Konami revealed that a Metal Gear Solid movie was in the works, and that they were in talks with a major Hollywood studio. Well, the studio turned out to be none other than Sony. No real surprise there considering Sony and Konami have been close for years. Besides the upcoming World of Warcraft film in the works over at WB, the MG film will be one of the highest profile game to film adaptations in the near future. One final note, Sont has hinted that the MGS movie is just the beginning.

According to Sony, Blu-Ray is already winning the next-gen format war. They claim the format is outselling HD-DVD by more than 2 to 1. Sony is basing this fact on a Neilsen VideoScan report which states that during the first week of January, 47.14 HD-DVD movies were sold for every 100 Blu-Ray. Then again with Sony's recent trend of botched PR, who knows if this is true.

Warner has officially announced it's total hi-def hybrid disc. These hybrid discs are able to hold dual layers of both HD DVD and Blu-ray on one disc. Engadget is reporting the first Total Hi Def releases will hit in the second half of this year, but no specific titles have yet been announced.

In case you have not seen it already, a new trailer for the Transformers live action movie is now available on Yahoo. In full 1080p HD as well! At first we thought this movie was going to be cheesy, but man, those bots look great! (Thanks, Overlord)
