PRESS RELEASE

Eidos Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announce that The Joker will be an exclusive playable character in Batman: Arkham Asylum for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. The character will be made available upon release as a free downloadable character through PlayStation®Network for the PLAYSTATION 3 and can be played in Challenge Maps from the game. Fans can get additional information in the June issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine.

In Batman: Arkham Asylum, DC Comics’ DARK KNIGHT takes on his greatest challenge yet when he becomes trapped with all of his most dangerous villains inside the insane asylum of GOTHAM CITY - ARKHAM ASYLUM! Batman: Arkham Asylum exposes players to a unique, dark and atmospheric adventure that takes them to the depths of Arkham Asylum – Gotham’s psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. Gamers will move in the shadows, instigate fear amongst their enemies and confront The Joker and Gotham City’s most notorious villains who have taken over the asylum. Using a wide range of Batman’s gadgets and abilities, players will become the invisible predator and attempt to foil The Joker’s demented scheme. Batman: Arkham Asylum features an original story penned exclusively for the game by famous Batman author and five-time Emmy award winner, Paul Dini, whose credits include Lost season one and Batman: The Animated Series.

Published in North America by Eidos, Inc. and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Batman: Arkham Asylum will also be available June 2009 on the Xbox 360 and PC.

I was kind of disappointed that this game is rated Teen. It looks fantastic however. I hope Eidos can get off the snide (now that Squenix owns them).

Is this when we all are supposed to bitch about how exclusive DLC is evil? Or does that just happen when it's not on the ps3?
Written by Libara on 2009/04/24

Lol Xenos too true. It also seems the exclusive DLC on 360 isnt worth it...somehow...
Written by Xenos on 2009/04/24

@ Libara, I don't think there is any exclusive DLC for this game on the 360........at least I hope there isn't.

Game looks great though, depending on how it plays, I may pick it up.

I could care less about exclusive DLC, I probably won't buy the game. I wonder what Sony paid to have this as content?

What I mean about exclusive DLC, is that I don't care about character/outfit unlocks. I want extra missions, etc.

My comment was just in good fun victus, everyone here should know that I don't agree with exclusive DLC regardless of console.

I also don't think Sony paid for this, just don't have a feeling that this would be worth a pay off. Eh, but what do I know.

@Xenos

Exclusive DLC isn't evil, it's just a bad customer relations policy for the publisher since it alienates a good chunk of their customer base who may end up resenting them for not treating their customers equally. Yes, it sucks no matter which platform it's on, but it sucks more when it's the platform that I own that's getting the short end of the stick. Which seems to happen more often than the other way around, at least for DLC I'd actually care about (ie: GTA IV and Fallout 3)
