Official Music Charts Now To Include Downloaded Game Tracks > |
2009/07/22 17:09:07: Posted by DM | |
In an announcement that you may thing is inconsequential, the downloaded songs for games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero will now be counted towards the numbers for the official music sales charts. This is significant because now that bands who have been stagnant for ages will have songs on the charts, it will mean that more and more old favorites will start appearing in games. If bands can get one more round of dollars from putting old classic songs into music games, they certainly will. Of course the songs being included in the charts does not directly affect sales, but it will certainly convince some reluctant music song rights holders that there may be something to this music game thing after all. What this means for all of us is that all those old songs you keep thinking "damn I wish I could play that song in Rock Band" about, might just show up for download after all. Cool.
