No More Madden? >
2006/02/07 12:33:54: Posted by DM
According to a post on the Maddenmania forums, the next installment of the football franchise will be called ESPN Presents. Now, we think this is likley bunk since our lists still say madden, but we bring it to you nonetheless. We can't say it isn't time though, if this is true. Give the series some new life, EA. Rumor mill for now though people. The post is below so you do not have to sign up.

We got a call today from our District Manager at GameStop, and the name for EA Sports' new football game will be "ESPN Prestents: NFL Football 2007".

Maybe they will change it at the last moment, but it looks to be the end of an era.

hah. that would be retarded to do. people will ask for madden then get a more expensive espn game. the name reconition alone will kill their franchise.

uhh... ESPN is contracted to EA for 15 years, so the name recognition is there. ESPN also has Monday Night Football so Madden is there as well. They may not use the name Madden, but they can't ignore him for those Monday Night games.

I knew I saw something somewhere... Madden renewed the contract back in July of 2005 for a multi-year deal. I would give the link but it would likely be blocked. It's on Game Informer's website... or search "madden ea renew" on google.

The Madden title is not going away. Madden NFL 07 is in the works. ESPN is partnering with EA. It's going to be cool. Stay tuned...
