2007/02/22 9:05:52: Posted by DM | |
It seems that Mercenaries 2 is now confirmed for release on almost all modern gaming platforms. Xbox360, PC, PSP, and even PS2 versions have now been revealed in addition to the PS3 build. Of course, Pandemic claims this has nothing to do with the issues PS3 is having, but who cna say for sure. IGN spoke with Pandemic Senior PRoducer Johnathan Zamkoff to get some questions answered about the title. Check it out.

i didn't particulary like the first game but it was good fun for a while, you can tell this is going to be a great selling game good or bad, in-game vids please.

i thought the first one was fun, but never played it long enough to make an accurate opinion. i'll be keeping my eye on this one just because of the co-op play, i love me some co-op

i wonder will the pc version playable with the 360 verion over the new Vista Live system? i know halo 2 will be the first game to do this but there must be other devs and producers wanting this to happen. 1 reason i can think of it not been multi console on live and that is the 360 version is bound to be more expensive.

I've played so many 360 shooters lately they may send me to Iraq.

@ Fiery Food Dude, then dont play any more shooters, easy as that.@ Nemesis, i didnt know that halo 2 on Vista will be playable against 360 owners. i thought that shadowrun was planned to be the first Vista vs 360 title.

halo 2 might not be the first if shadow run is out before it. but halo 2 will definitaly be playable on the "Live Anywhere network" at its PC launch.
just seen shadowrun has a june release date maby it will the first then.

~Kenny, you're right I should quit buying them. But for some reason, I can't. I'm just a little bitter that we don't have enouph good MMO's or RPG's. However, I'm a xbox convert from the pc for about 5 years. And I must say, "God Bless the 360" . Awesome system!!

I think the most noteworthy information from this is there is no Wii version. Already we are seeing some of the downsides to having a considerably weaker machine. However, they could port the ps2 version over and add wii controls later.

@ Fiery Food Dude, i see. well you wont be too bitter for too long, currently there are more RPGs and MMOs scheduled for the 360 then either of the other 2. i just thought that you were sticking that stupid "shooter system" label on to the 360@ The G, i agree. i believe that demographics play a bigger part then system power here.

This is yet another game that started out as being announced only for Playstation 3, but has now been confirmed for release on the Xbox 360. It is only a matter of time--a short matter of time--until we hear similar announcements about MGS4, DMC4, and FFXIII.

for the record this was never a ps3 only title, it was just announced only for the ps3. what most people dont know, including UTP, is that ports this gen wont be like last gen at all. all code is built on C++ and then the individual compilers for each system are used when optimizing for that system.
what this means is that no one can say that any multi-platform game excels on either console because it was a "port" of the other console.
other factors will play a part if either version is superior (money, time, experience, effort, etc) but it's nothing to do with any source material. a good example of commen code being used is DMC4, it runs off of the lost planet engine but optimized for the ps3.
