Afrika PS3 To Come With Touchpad Sensor Before Wii Fit? >
2007/08/15 14:01:55: Posted by DM
According to the Japanese rumor mill, Sony is still planning to release Afrika, the African hunt and look safari game that was shown in the early days of the PS3's pre-release. This is a game that us here at GR have been asking about lately because it seemed like it would be a lot of fun. The interesting part about this rumor is that Sony is supposedly planning to release a Wii Fit type sensitive touchpad to go with Afrika in order to make the safari experience complete. All this, and they plan to release before Wii Fit as well. Rumor mill, of course, but don't put it past Sony.

I think it's very risky to release something with a new form of controller that is necessary to play the game; it is kind of like releasing a "light-gun" game that automatically has its sales figures limited by the special type of controller needed to play the game.

When you consider that the game called Lair ended up being a disappointment with "Mixed Reviews" (actually, low scores from reliable sources), then you can realize that Afrika is a game that is very likely to suffer the same fate.

Remember, Lair was a "gamble," that relied on that particular "imprecise" flight-style gameplay with the imprecise sixaxis controller of the PS3.

Now, with Afrika, Sony is basically saying, "The sixaxis controller still isn't good enough, so we need to release a controller similar to what is used with the Wii."

That has the words, "BIG GAMBLE," written all over it!

It's the same thing with Warhawk. That game relies on two-player gameplay, which was not the original intention. Originally that game was supposed to use single-player sixaxis controlls, but the PS3 controller was not nearly precise enough. As a result the gameplay was changed to something that is a huge gamble.

I mean, not being able to play the game on your own is a BIG risk!

any info regarding gameplay?

any huge title is a big gamble, tied with a unique controller

but look at the success of Guitar hero Krogan.

my question is why do the need a unique controller with this game? I don't know much about this game, what are the details?

@Krogan

Warhawk's sixaxis control is awesome, I've tried it. Very intuitive and precise. You don't know what you're talking about.

As for requiring two people, only people with no internet connection and no friends would have a problem with that. You at least have the former, so why are you hating on it?

Oh yeah, and the PS3's failure rate is 0.2%. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

@Madgunde, you and I are Gamers, Krogan is a Lamer. I'm still waiting for straight response from him in this forum. its been two days already all he does is beat around the bush when asked a straight questions.

When he runs out of answers he start recycling the same old thing, can you believe this guy is still bringing up F.E.A.R. in his arguments .. read this forum about hard drives and X360 hXXp://www.gamersreports.com/news/6326/xbox-360-to-get-hard-drive-required-games-in-2008/#comments
