	Infinity Ward has posted in the official COD4 forums a comparison of PS3 and Xbox360 screens from Call of Duty 4. We will reserve judgment on which looks better until a few of you can comment and tell us what you think. >Link

if anyone really needed the reason as to why the 360 version of the game was shown at E3, the answer is there, i think the first screenshot is the one that really tells the difference, looks a bit smoother, especially on the walls, and the blueish lighting thing they got going definately makes the 360 version that much better

haha you think? Id say the PS3 version looks like it has more colour. This could be due to the fact that the PS3 can display more colours on screen that the 360. Before anyone flames me please read up the differences between 64 and 128 bit pixel precision.

The Ps3 shots looks waaay better

look up the comparison of the GPUs sticky, you have no info. it does have more colours but it in no way possible looks better thn the 360 version, think it is fanboy vision, tol dUYTP the same about oblivion

PS3 version has more detail in the background, there are windows railings trees missing from the 360 screenshot that are clearly in the PS3 screenshot. Not to mention the detail on the ground. Notice the breeze blocks on the floor of the PS3 screenshot that are missing in the 360 version, they even cast a shadow which is nice. This is obviously not a finished build of the game so its pretty pointless to compare them until the game is finished. Im just confused. should I download this game for the 360 and pay nothing? or should I buy it for the PS3 if when its released it looks far better than the 360? im swinging towards the latter especially if it has mouse and kb support.

arthur: why am i a fan boy? i have every system that is out and i play all evenly. to be honest i want the m$ version to be better so i can download it for free and play it on my hacked 360. i dont know where your getting ur fan boy image from, maybe its a reflection of your own self.

far more subtle detail in the ps3 screens, but why? And why is the color pallete so completely different? are these at the same build level? It's definetly too early to compare versions - I think I'll get the 360 version for 2 reasons: the controller, and I have more friends with 360s to play online with. And sticky... your console is modded - WE GET IT :D, you mentioned in like 8 times in that post.

Here is a statement from infinity ward regarding this whole thing,

"During development we frequently tweak the color balances in the levels to achieve the look and feel that we’re shooting for. What you’re seeing in these two videos are two completely different visual styles for the level that were tried. That’s why the older 360 shot has a distinct blueish tint, while the more recent PS3 shot shows the more appropriate middle eastern feeling lighting.



You can also some differences in the geometry in the two shots. Broken walls, windows, etc… Every level goes through at least one “detail pass”. The designers will rough in geometry and do a certain level of detail, but it’s the environment artists that really make each level shine. The version of the level shown in the PS3 shot has been through one or two more detail passes than the one shown in the 360 shot. That said, all levels (single player and multi) use identical geometry and textures across all platforms. If nothing else, the shots show an interesting look at the evolution of a level."

So this shows that your opinion of the 360 being better just doesnt make sense arthur. You think the less detailed screenshot looks better? are you fucking kidding me?

kidkit i think i stated that we would need to wait till the game was finished to compare, did i not? did i also mention my console is modded and i havent purchased a single game from m$ ? haha

PS3 looks better, no doubt

did you guys not read what the dev said? they were trying out different styles. the ps3 version is obviously the new version while the 360's screenshot is based on the older build. if you look at the fence on top of the building, i personally think the 360's looks better. but we'll have to wait until release to find out which version is better. my bet is on the 360 and i have both systems. but i will probaby get for my pc.

Look Infinity ward are by far the most perfectionist developer out there. They will not release any game on any console without it being top grade. So there should be no difference between the consoles when released whatsoever.

yeah the ps3 version definitely has more detail and better color. i guess i know which version i'm getting.

looking at the second screen closely, there are places where the ps3 version does triumph, and where the 360 does triumph, better lighting on the ps3, but still no clear winner

there are several aspects lacking from tha 360 screen , and some missing from the ps3 screen, one gets them when they give it a better look

Though the developor has already cleared this up (different development time frames), it's funny that the xbots on this site can't own up to one looking vastly superior to the other. Sad sad sad.

The games will be identical. These screens, acknowledged by the dev's show the PS3 version looking much better(due again to time frame of the builds). B4 this info was known, the xbots are in full defense/denial mode.

the xbox version was put at E3, that is where all hype is built, the screens look good, but there is time to tweak them all up, did you read my reply yo sticky above you,

The PS3 images look better, IMO. A bit more detail to them. But, given the difference in time frame in builds, I would expect such a thing to happen.

Still to early for me to pass judgment on.

Can't you guys read? They said the shots were just to show how a level goes through different stages of design to experiment with the look and feel. The fact that one is on a 360 vs PS3 has no relevance since they are not final.

lc204: LMAO. I think they would rather argue than deal with the facts. The PS3 screen shots are from a more recent build than the 360's screen shots. That explains the difference in quality. Dang head over to n4g and check it out. The developer even clarifies this... Yes the PS3's screen shots look better in this comparison PS3 fanboys. But it is because the PS3's screenshots are the recent. The 360's are not recent. LMAO. Flame away!!!!!

why didnt you post my comments that came in the lower segments, i did correct myself, plus i was kinda busy so i really rushed over the screens, if you look closer you will see that there is a tree among other things missing onthe 360 screen, and some aspects missing from the ps3 screen, the 360 screen does look smoother in some areas, while the ps3 version does triumph in some, dude, you may not think of me as a gamer, but i have proved it already on this site and its forums time and time again, keep calling me a fool while you do just that to yourself
