Sony To Offer New PSP Games For Download Via The PS3 PSN > |
2007/10/09 12:34:10: Posted by DM | |
It looks like Sony is really going to try to get gamers to purchase a PS3 any way they can. Now, Sony has revealed to GI that there are at least 7 brand new PSP IPs slated for release only on the PS3 PSN.A source close to SCEA has revealed that three action games, two music-based games, one racing title and a shooting game are being developed internally.Downloadable games for the handheld will be between one half and one third of the size of the average UMD title, offering between two and ten hours of gameplay. Sony is currently courting third-party PSP publishers for the PlayStation Store, which offers a better return on investment for the publisher and format holder as it completely cuts out retail partners.

sounds good...lets hope those downloads are no more then $20 =/
and that they allow it to be played on the PS3, just like they eventually did with the old ps1 games =/ =/

about time, they should have done this in the first place. If they allow people to make games and put them on the service, like XNA, then this would be even sweeter.

Isn't Sony planning on making the PSN Store available directly on the PSP? I suspect that's the plan since it would be silly to limit sales of these titles to only those who have a PS3.

I read the whole article. And one thing that I noticed was it says 2.7 million users have registered for PSN. Thats about 55% of the PS3 user install base worldwide. Not bad. However it also goes to show that free online gaming service isnt everything, and that Broadband Internet hasn't penetrated most homes yet. Even though I dislike PSn from experience. It is good to know that they are making PSN available on more platforms than just the PS3. It would suck for PSP owners to be forced to own a PS3 to buy certain games.
